Being an outsider,I am curious as to once a new US law has been signed in by who ever is in power at the time, which is not favoured by the people.can it be altered or amended by a later Pres.who thinks more of what the people want,than personal power over the people.

Yes, but it isn't easy. And it's not in the hands of the later Pres. It would have to be repealed in the Legislature. Executive orders, however, can be withdrawn or modified by the next Pres., which happens fairly often. Then there are regulations ( the detailed rules based on a law), which carry the force of law, but can be canceled or modified by the issuing agency. It gets very complicated.
The only other way a law can be overturned is if the Supreme Court rules that it is unconstitutional either in part or in it's entirety. Last edited by GunnyGene; 11-16-2012 at 06:41 AM.. |
