That's awesome Josh!

Hey if you don't mind can you give the specifics of the loading you are doing up for Goofy? My cousin is just about to get an upper for the beouff and I know he'll be needing some suggestions.

That's cool!!!
Do I start making out the check to him?
It looks like he is doing the work
opening day was yesterday I passed up a few deer but going back out today.
I can't wait till I get a shot (on a decent deer)to see how they do.
The only zombies I saw yesterday were driving up and down the roads looking for deer

Alexander Arms cases
300 gr Hornady FTX (for the .500 magnum)
38 gr Hodgdon Lil' Gun
CCI350 (Large Magnum Pistol)
2.155" OAL
Fairly heavy taper crimp

Im calling the load the 'Goofy Special'

Just a note on the seating depth... The bullets are intended for the .500 magnum revolver cartridge and have a crimp canneluer for a roll crimp. Since the .50 Beowulf headspaces on the mouth like a .45ACP, it needs a taper crimp. Seating to the cannelure will inhibit a proper taper crimp so these are seated a bit deeper. My charts say this load is good for about 1850 fps from a 16" tube. But I think they are probably running a bit faster than that because of the custom seating depth reducing case capacity a bit. Perhaps Mike could chronograph a few and report back actual velocity.

Yeah that little dude is my little clone. He made a 'ME BOX" at school and inside he glued empty .22 cases and a broken pocket knife I gave him (that wasnt broken when i gave it to him), A picture he drew of him shooting and cleaning guns. and his "what I want to be when i grow up" was... wait for it... A pistolsmith. I was so proud I almost cried. Everytime I reload ammo hes right there with me. 90% of the ammo i shoot was seated and crimped by a 5 yr old.

Post Re: Hey Goofy...

It has the Beowulf lower.
I bought the gun in pieces from Alexander arms and built it myself.
That way I could change, add, alter what I wanted to.

They drop! no tracking!
That was the whole idea behind this.
Well placed shot and no problem with the meat.
A side shoulder shot and you will loose both shoulders.

Its definitely one of those neck shots and you dang near decapitate them rounds. Those FTXs are already 1/2" in diameter before they hit soft tissue. My .44 mag 240 gr bullets expamd to just under 3/4" at the same velocity. so im guessing the .50s are a bit over at least.
