Default CHRISTMAS shopping

do you do it? are you done? or do you wait till christmas eve to complete your shopping
will you spend as much or less as last year ?
i know for us we are cutting expenses this year.
all our nieces and nephews have grown and we agreed not to exchange gifts this year
i told my wife i did not want or need anything this year. but she insisted on buying a couple parts for the camaro.
she wants a new living room suit and carpet so that will be her christmas present when she pickes it out

The wife looks for the fun toys and stuff for the kids, and I like to poot thought and meaning into my gifts.
just need to finish the holders for some 1890 silver coins I got from my father, just before he died. going to pass them on to the girls this year.
Hope they like them.

I go x-mas shopping twice.
First is to be my wifes mule we walk around all day and I get to carry the packages and hand out the cash.
Second time is to pick up the things I want to give to every one.

I'm terrible at deciding what to give, so I give cash. It makes everyone happy and I don't have to fight the crowds.

We are about 90% done. Just a few little things is all. We buy all year as we go so we can take advantage of sale items.

My wife and I don't have any children, so we pretty much buy whatever we want and can afford year round, so exchanging gifts would be kind of pointless. Christmas with the families was getting to be just a money exchange, because no body knew what to buy for the other, so we decided to call that quits.

Christmas for us has become just about getting together and visiting with family and friends, with maybe a nice meal thrown in. It really takes the pressure off the season and makes it something for us to look forward to now...

So I guess in some ways, yes my Christmas shopping is done.

My kids are grown and the wife buys them clothes all year and tucks them away for Christmas. Then I get to do all the rest of the gift advice, selections, and shopping. Most of the remainder of the shooping will be done Cyber Monday. We spend a couple days wrapping together, little here and a little there.

Our church gives away gifts to underprivledged kids. This year we are hoping to help about 3000 kids. We usually spend a couple hundred bucks on that and the wife spends a lot of time with ladies of the church wrapping nights after work. Here is a link to the web site for the event.

Haven't even started.

I won't do any of it in stores; I do my best to avoid them at all costs from Thanksgiving to the new year (except hardware and auto parts stores). I really appreciate online shopping, especially this time of year.

I haven't even started. I have 3 family birthdays in Nov. that always cost me. I usually start in Dec. when we get a Christmas bonus. This year, sighting economic woes, our company cut the Christmas bonus by one third. We also didn't get a raise this year, kind of a double whammy for alot of us. But we'll just make do and remember the real reason for the season.

We traveled a lot this year, spent about 2K redoing a horrible 8' long brick corner fireplace into something we can stand to look at. That's our Christmas. Looking real hard at gift cards for everyone else, especially those away from here.
