I need another reloading manual to supplement my Sierra manual. Kinda have it narrowed down to Speer or Lyman. I reload primarily 9mm in pistol, .308 and
7mm Rem. Mag. in rifle. Hopefully whichever manual it will cover Reloader 22 powder which I settled on for the Rem. mag. Any help or suggestions on which manual would best meet my needs will be appreciated.

Go with the Lyman and keep collecting until you have a library full of bullet and powder manuals.

The new [9th] Hornady is available.....
as is the Nosler. Tons of old manuals to be had..... multiple 'old' manuals on disk for one low price.... for me, NEW fresh manuals are always best !!

i like / use speer, and sierra the most, and hornady and nosler next.. why? those are the projectiles i use the most.
lyman 49th however is a fantastic publication.. I also have the lee book, just because I want the most information sources available possible. cartridges of the world is a neat book.. softback.. in 12th ed printing.. appears to may have some backing or sponsorship via hornada .. but it has MANY pics, diagrams, some history, and many of the cartridges listed have some load data with them. I reccomend getting all the sources you can.. event he handloaders magazine.. plus some of the free phamplet style publications handed out by the powder manufacturers. OR sure get at LEAST the books from the projectiles manufacturers you use.. can't go wrong flipping to the exact proj. you are using and looking up data.. vs trying to get close on a generic projectile style / size / shape.. etc. this is a case of more is better. also eye opeing to compair min / max loads and different powder types some of the books reccomend... lets you get a baseline... |

Lyman's manual seems to be a bit more versitile. If you are using Speer bullets, get a Speer manual (same with Hornady, Nosler, Barnes, etc.).

Reloder22 is a good choice for the 7mmRemMag. Will work good for pretty much every bullet weight available for it.
What brand bullets do you use? That's what manuals I would add to the bookshelf first. Like soundguy and others, I usually get most of my data from bullet manufacturer's manuals (Hornady, Speer, Barnes, Sierra)...but I also use powder manufacturer data (mostly the Hodgdon Online Manual). I do have the Lyman manual as "yet another data source" but I usually use the above listed ones first. |

IMHO Lyman’s 49th is the best all around manual available today bar none.

Another suggestion is the QuickLoad software.
You can simply add your components together and create your own data for what you intend to use. http://www.accurateshooter.com/gear-...ckload-review/ It may not be total concrete info..... but it will give you some valuable data. Just one example : • Bullet Seating Depth If you haven’t tried QuickLOAD, you may be surprised at how much of an effect relatively small changes in seating depth can have. QuickLOAD gives you a good sense of how seating depth (and case capacity) affects load pressure.

I would also suggest the Lyman #49.
It was the last one that I bought, mainly because it has data for the 5.7X28 an no one else did, at the time I bought it.

Lyman #49.
It pays to also have the manual for whatever bullets you are using.

I'll add another to the lyman vote. To me its more versatile. the manufacturer manuals are great, but stick to THEIR bullets. I don't stick to one brand of bullet, and shoot a lot of cast, so lymans is my primary

While both have data for RL22 in 7RemMag; I too would opt for the Lyman 49th as it provides more reference and general info.
