OMG!!! Hollow points!!!!! What ever are we going to do?!?!?!
Cops here are the same way, I was accused of planning to kill people because I had critical defense in my .38. Um I carry it so I don't shoot anything behind the person. I pray I never have to pull the trigger.

I think we should organize a national annual open carry week where every single person that lives in an open carry state that owns a firearm, open carrys for a solid week. That would "adjust" their protocol.

Or give the anti-gun crowd a reason to decry OC and push for more legislation to ban it - then they can add their AWB to it all in the name of "making the streets safer from guns".

This is exactly how they think. They want nothing more than to keep you afraid to open carry. Seems as though they already have YOU.

The guy screwed up by even giving the cop any information. He was going about his lawful business and unless the cop wanted to make an arrest he had not business even accosting the man. The cop sounds like an ignorant moron too.

I have heard of this several times cops claiming illegal bullets but to my knowledge NJ is the only place that has made any law against hollow point ammo but just another a$$hole cop betting on the uninformed general public

Pick the place and time of your battles. Beaware the Liberals are in control they have just won a major victory. Now is not the time to take them. The Obama Dems will lose support in time. When they are going down attack with you OC agenda, not before.

I don't ordinarily use HP but this makes me want to change just to be contrary. I suppose my preferred LSWC will be next on the forbidden list by anti-gun politicians and the minority of stooge officers who depend on those politicians for their jobs. To accurate and effective so they must be bad. Love legal advice from police officers who think their badge makes them infallible. Most of my cop buddies would have slapped them two up alongside the head just for wearing the same uniform they do and giving all of them a rep for being stupid.

I carry hornady critical defense and open carry alot.I think the police think they should be the only one to carry guns.Which is pretty dumb because they usually arrive after the incident is over.Indiana has no laws as to what kind of ammo we can use.I use fmj for target and hollow point for personal protection.

The whole thing is stupid; "why do you have those deadly hollow points?!!"
um, what the hell does it matter it's DEADLY force. dead is dead, whether I shoot you 15 times with FMJ's or 15 times with HP's, the end result is gonna be pretty much the same! (except with FMJ's, I'll only be out about $2 where HP's I would be about $20 in the hole)

I open carry every day and have yet to be stopped, but...
Don't talk to cops!! The only thing you need to inform them is that you do not consent to any search or siezure of your person or property. Then, "Am I free to go?" Anything else is just ammo for the cop to hold you (illegally) longer. They don't need to know what ammo you have in the first place, the only way they're gonna find out what I have is if they violate my 4A rights and remove my firearm to find out for themselves.

Also considering that anytime anybody disagrees with you on carrying methods, you label them as afraid or a liberal or an anti. I guess YOUR opinion is the ONLY one that matters, and that anybody that disagrees with you is WRONG! Hmm...I think I've heard that same argument from the liberal crowd that you so vehemently oppose.

I've posted my position on OC many times on these forums. I'm completely Pro OC and do it often. I've been harrassed by the Stormtroopers err...Cops but have never, ever, ever taken a ride with them. They did however ONCE disarm me for a short period, that was taken care of shortly there after with personal appearances and meetings at the headquarters along with interviews with the media. Now they don't bother me at all, imagine that? You've GOT to KNOW your rights when you OC and be prepared to defend them against ignorant LEO's.
Some just don't like to OC. It really don't bother me that they choose that way but on the other hand I can defenatly understand where DD comes from. Everyone's heard the addage "A right not excersized is a right lost". Tatically I can understand not OC'ing. There are places I go from time to time I just don't want to advertize to the disenfranchised yutes so I CC.

JohnHenry, and the rest of y'all with that attitude, think about this.
You've decided you want to mug somebody. You have your choice of three people. Which would you rather mug? Chuck Norris, in his prime as Lone Wolf McQuade? Arnold Swarziniggy, in his prime as The Terminator? Or Sophia, the oldest Golden Girl? Me - I believe I'd prefer to mug the frail-looking woman in her late 60s, rather than either of the two muscular looking men in their mid 30s. Why? Less chance of getting hurt. Now, how about these two choices? Clark Kent or Matt Dillon? Would you rather mug the man wearing glasses, or the man wearing a gun? Yes, if you tried to mug Clark Kent, Superman would kick your butt. But you don't know that he's Superman, so you'd risk it. Matt Dillon, with that open-carried .45 - I'd leave him alone. So, John, if you are walking down the street - apparently unarmed, and norahc is walking down the street, with a visible gun on, which one of you do you think the mugger would rather try? Now, yes, if the 14-member James Gang had spent six months planning the bank robbery, and when they walk in they find me there with my gun on, they might shoot me out of hand. But if Joe Crackhead is coming into the 7-11, to get the 20 bucks (which is all that is in the register) to go buy a rock, and sees me standing there in line with a Big Gulp and a 45, I"m pretty sure he's not going to shoot me to get that 20 bucks. He's gonna go down the block and hit the next 7-11. The point I am trying hard to make here, is that if the criminal thinks I am a "soft target", he might attempt to rob me. Then I get to see how fast I can draw from my concealed holster. But if he sees that it might be dangerous to try me, he's liable to bypass me and try someone else. And when all is said and done, I would rather NOT to have to fight off a criminal.

Sorry, but this is exactly what the liberals are hoping we will do. They hope we will fear them and that we will not open carry because we are afraid they will push for stricter legislation. I have news for you, they are already pushing for these laws no matter what we do. We had better become as bold as we possibly can if we are to keep and maintain our freedoms. The liberals are pushing and fighting for what they want and they are winning.

Well, its obvious that the majority of police out there are not well enough educated in handling the armed honest citizen. In a state where open carry is legal, there MUST be protocol in every department to teach the officers how to handle the situations or it will be left up to US to teach them which seems to be the case. Even in states where it is legal, they still dont know or understand the law, which tells me they arent being taught. Someone must teach them. If the departments wont do it, then it is left up to the armed public. Open carry is as legal as walking down the sidewalk, yet years and years later, we are still in the same place. If the armed public would decide to use their rights, things would slowly change. But the more people continue to not want to "rock the boat", the longer things will stay right how they are. We must not be afraid to do what is legal to do out of fear of upsetting the liberals.

Highly encourage all to visit opencarry.org once in a while and spend some time reading, many many good points on there concerning OC. knowing the local laws in your state and reading case studies on folks who have encountered harrassment and/or arrest, etc is very enlightening as to the subject of OCing a firearm. while OC does have certain tactical disadvantages at times, overall, crackheads don't want to hit a 'hard target'.

If I could open carry in my state I would do it ever day. To many bad guys out there. Seems like the cop's cant control them. We can't even conceal carry here. I am going to get more active in trying to get that changed.

I would rather "scum" has to consider that his "bro" in this type situation just last week was blown away while trying to hassle a "lil' ol' lady .... with a CCW and the experience to use her S&W 3913 .

if i could OC, which i cannot, I'd still have to think hard about it. granted, I'm in a pretty small but getting more densely populated every day town so concealed is what I'm used to. If I lived in a metro area, yeah, I'd probably OC where allowed, just so the BG knows what he's up against. Then again, and this is just me, I'm not a city person so the point is moot.
as for HP's in jersey, yup, illegal. except for .22lr
