I just looked at your hunting laws and they are less strict then here.
And lic. are cheaper too.
You can even use a crossbow in archery season.
Why is your hunting lic. sales down?

If you think our OC laws are crazy you should see our hunting laws. Deer hunting used to be the number one participant sport in the state. Now it's got to the point that no one hunts. Even if you have permission to hunt most of the land in a given block of woods you are still going to have conflicts. I own 135 acres and every season someone tries to run me off my own land.
I lived in NC for 2 years and nobody 'hunts' because they 'poach' out of their backyard quite a bit! NC's CCW is not hard to get but more time consuming than many other places including WA and PA where I hold permits also.

It's so much easier to get a concealed permit and be done with it. Everything is black & white when you have a permit. OC you are rolling the dice when you get off your own property. Once you are charged with a firearms misdemeanor a Sheriff has reason to deny your concealed permit. You can go to superior court and get a permit. Then you need lawyers and a bunch of time. Less than $200 and eight hours of training you have a concealed permit, if you go on and get a permit as soon as you decide you need to carry a gun.
I used to think this very same way not long ago but have since been liberated of this flawed logic; I now enjoy OC every day and don't have any issues. Trust me when I say you will likely have similar results. It's just not that big of a deal. You do need to educate yourself on the matter though and know your laws in NC.

Legal = Legal, yes, sprinkle some common sense and responsibility in there.

A gun in a holster OC'd is not GATTOP, a pertinent read on this very subject:

I renewed mine at a gun show last year. The County Sheriff was there with a camera and laptop, snap your pic, download to laptop, printer spits out CC Permit. Pay $25 and go back to gun show shopping.

If not a re-new they just run an instant check (same as buying a gun) along with the above.

this is a pdf of the ncdoj.com website that covers all of your local laws on concealed and open carry. Pretty similar to here in WA.

There are occasionally people (OCers) who get harrassed by cops but they will end up on youtube and be the cause of a lawsuit most likely. For the few LEO's that are uneducated as to your rights, help educate them and OC away without fear.

and this is not any kind of attack or belittlement, I am genuinely trying to show you just how problem free OCing is if you know your own rights. It's pretty liberating, highly encourage it!

Yeah, the renewal is pretty easy here also. The initial one (at least when I lived there from 2004-2006) in NC, you had to take a state approved class and pay $90 additionally, wound up being on average around $180 total I think.

overall was pretty easy.

PA I showed up and they issued me one that looked like a 3rd grader made it, it was so hokey looking. $20 and on my way. It was also a concealed weapons permit, not just pistol. They've since gone to credit card looking ones that actually take more than a home computer to make.

This has nothing to do with open carry but goes to the heart of the matter.

this is a very excellent presentation, thanks for posting that up! One of my favorites when people challenge my 'don't talk to cops' recommendation.

Some olice don't know the law. Then there are the petrified rectums who hassle you just because they can. Not all cops are a$$holes, but then not all a$$holes are cops.

I couldnt stand it...I watched that video again...I am so sick and tired of these STUPID cops I cant stand it...either they get educated on the laws or you are not qualified to stop someone that is open carrying. Period. Its time for lawsuits....piss on them.
