As it turns out, my bride has us scheduled to fly up to Missouri to be with the kids & grandkids for the Christmas holidays on 12/21 this year, so if the end comes I'll just have to deal with it after I get back. A guy can only do so much!!!

The countdown continues -

22 days until the world ends.

Gun Runner, the Mayans are a bronze skinned people living south of us who once had a vast and very advanced civilization, but now make jewelry for tourists to buy. They also hang from poles by their feet and spin around while another one plays a flute, then they collect money from the tourists that unsuspectingly snapped a picture of this activity.

Most Mayans are on CST, but a few are on EST.
I assume from this that the majority will notice their Eastern relatives kicking off and giving them a one hour warning.

Here on base, the Rec Center is having an "End of the World" party, and the day after, a "The World Didn't End" party.

Personally I don't think anything is going to happen (at least as far as the end of the world) on Dec 21st. All though I do have an eye doctor appointment that day. I wonder if he'll only charge me half rate this year?? (But, I digress).

Much like Old Grump said, the end of the Mayan calender signifies the beginning of a new cycle of the calender. BTW, the Mayan calender didn't worry about leap years, because it didn't need them. It's actually a more accurate calender then the peace of junk Gregorian calender we use today.

A friend of mine is completely convinced that the Magnetic Poles of the earth are going to reverse on Dec 21st, where he got that idea from I have no clue.

the 21st is a friday and the 24th is monday. This is gona make for a nice long weekend all the way thru to Jan the 2nd.

I am gona have to stock up on Crown Royal.

I will probably go fishing that Friday on the 21 and bring home a sack of oysters. I am gona have a good time with my front row seat eating fried and grilled oysters and fish. I'll have a drink in my other hand toasting everyone to heck. I will also keep my eye on the sky to see if i see any of those myans flying around from the last time this happened and got thrown into space.

I will also be waiting to see what the WH throws at us during the holiday, gun control wise that is.

Back in 1999 a friend of mine asked me... "They say the worlds going to end in the year 2000, what are you going to do?" My answer was simple. "I'm going to die just like the rest of us, what would you expect me to do?"

If the world truly is going to "End", there is very little anyone can do, it's not like we can just pick up and move to a new one or anything...

Did anyone think about the fact that the KT event that wiped out the dinosaurs and most other life on earth was a meteorite that hit in the Yucatan peninsula, which just happens to be the heart of the Mayan civilization?

I thought that I'd try to find an answer for this matter with the ending Mayan calender issue so I went to a hypnotist who sent me back a good many lifetimes ago.
I found myself looking in on a very important meeting the Mayans had about the calender under progress. You see, at that time the Mayans were faced with a terrible financial deficit and were headed off a financial cliff. (Sound familiar?) They were faced with making some serious cutbacks in order to avoid the big fall and cutting out the calender program allowed them to save a chunk of change. The program was ended saving them some money but of course caused a number of people (I think it was 62) to become unemployed. What else is new? Think we invented all the problems we face today?
