Default WWII Walther PPK

I have a WWII Walther PPK in 98% condition (slight barrel holsterb wear).
There is an Eagle/C on left side of frame and an Eagle/N on the exposed barrel and an Eagle/24 on the right side of the slide.
It has the original holster with an extra magazine holder and extra magazine.
Serial number is 327716 k.
Can someone tell me what it is worth?

Hello,
What you have is a police issued ppk. The eagle c is for that designation. On the right side of the slide is an E/N & you are confused it being a 24. From the sn@ I put the manufacture date as 1940. Before giving a price I would need some good pics for grading it. Hope this helps some?
Regards
Danny

Ok, still another "I have a WW II Walther" post. Just curious as to approx worth like everyone else. Pretty much same story. Father brought it home from "The Big One" and it had been in a desk drawer for many years. I will post a few pics which may help. Don't know much history other that what I said. No he didn't take it from Hitler's body. LOL

About $1500 would be an average value, though some will try to buy it for $1200. If you find the right customer you might be able to squeeze near $2000 out of him. It's a nice rig.

There is a holster that it is in. It is black and has a pocket for an extra magazine. I will have to take a pic and post. I have seen some PPK's which people thought were worth 600-700. What would make mine worth about the 1500 range?? Just wondering. I really do not know if I would want to sell at this time but I am also looking at buying some sort of sidearm to be able to use. I am 55 yrs old and this gun has not been fired in my lifetime.

Hello,
First before I can give ya a value, I need to know if the pistol has brown, grey or blackish grips? It is hard to tell from the lighting conditions. Take it out in the sunlight & take more pics, including the other side for me. The holster is a plus and if the other mag has a plastic ext, a bigger prize. Also post pics of the markings on the holster. By the way your pistol was manufactured late 1942.
Kind Regards
Danny

Value is determined by condition, and yours appears to be in excellent shape. Value is further increased if it is military or police issue. This is determined by the marking on the left side, just behind the trigger guard.

Very nice holster. Are there any markings on it anywhere? Don't forget to look under the leather strap.

No stamped markings but there appears to be a name inside in what looks like ink. It says "Keith Holcomb" and then under name it says what looks like "1st pl and then another letter" and then B6472738. Looks to be hand written in rather than stamped.

Hello Friend,
I am glad u posted everything for us to justify a real value. Your pistol is a police issued nazi one. The holster is not correct for this weapon, as the military & police were intirely different. The name & numbers r the GI's name & serial number. As Wonder had mentioned quality & having the holster and extra mag would put it in the 1800 dollar bracket. If more to the right collector. Now is a bad time to put it on any auction site, as the collectors are holding there funds back. The only weapons selling now are new ones, or the last 20 years or so old ones.Just hold on it for ten years & u can double your money, I have.
Kind Regards
Danny

Thank You both for the info. I think at this point I would take your advice and just pass it along in the family. My daughter has taken to guns and actually wants a rifle to start deer hunting. I am looking an a .270 for her. She and her boyfriend go to the range frequently. I think I will pass it on. Thanks again.

Great idea, then they can pass it on to their children. However I can never understand chicks shooting bambies. Does she actually field dress them & drag them out of the woods?

Oh yes, I thought the same thing but she is a senior at a local university and is in the doctorate of physical therapy program. This university is one of the few that has a human cadaver lab and they dissect human bodies. I did not think she would be able to do that. Not only did she do well there last year but she is a student teaching assistant in that lab this year. She loves to fish and has no trouble there either. I am quite proud of her.

OK so I have been reading some posts that have been made about Walthers since I have posted. One recent one said he was thinking of making it his carry weapon. I remember a long time ago being told not to shoot this thing and to put it away to increase value?? I really like it (Pictures in above posts) I do remember when I was a teenager and times were different, taking it in to woods and shooting it for practice. I have two questions.
1. Is this a good idea? Why? or Why not? I was thinking of doing this also.
2. I do remember when I was shooting it, some of the shells would get jammed after firing and I was told that it was a problem with the "ejection ring" on some brands of ammo. For you Walther owners what ammo is the best to use in my weapon? Any help will be appreciated.

PLEASE!!

I am posting this message again after two years as I am going to a gun show in a few weeks and I am thinking of taking this Walther there to see what I could maybe get. I am looking for possibly a 1911 and something in a .22 or .32 for my wife before things get too bad politically. Any suggestions on strategy, current value of the Walther etc would be greatly appreciated.

I think you will make out much better by selling the PPK and using the proceeds to buy what you want. I don't think you can come out on top trying to do a trade at a gun show. With the market somewhat depressed at the moment, I think you could get around $1400 for the rig. that should cover a decent 1911 type pistol (not a military issue) and a nice .22 by a good maker.

I would never use a collector or historical gun for carry. If (God forbid!) something goes wrong and I have to use it, it will be seized by the police and kicked around the evidence room for months getting dirty, rusty and maybe stolen. And, assuming I am not arrested or even held, I still might not get the gun back, ever. For a $250 Model 10 cop surplus, bad. For a $12,000 engraved, gold inlaid Colt Gov't Model or a $5000 Luger, very, very bad.

I agree, I have actually shot the Walther when I was very young and did not know better. Shortly thereafter I cleaned and never used again. Just keep it clean and in cool dry place.
