The thread, "Songs that you can't stand" made me sick to my stomach so I figured I would start a thread to help with the nausea.
Here's mine, "East Bound and Down," by Jerry Reed. Now there's a great singer with talent, and a good song. This song just makes you want to drive a car fast. http://video.search.yahoo.com/video/...1aalaa85&&tt=b

This guy sang in 7 octaves. I would like to see any one today go up against him.

Most country music (not slow ones though, they suck too) is decent, but mostly old school punk rock and some old school goodies like Cash, Merle, Hank Sr and the likes.
Patsy Cline of course... NOFX usually is blasting away in my truck most days though...

If there's anyone who hasn't listened to Flogging Molly, I highly recommend them; they're loved by just about everyone of all walks of life and music tastes.
Good old dropkick murphy's is a great one too, I play bagpipes so I listen to tons of pipe music also... the real McKenzies... oh, and check this out, I've played with these guys before, they're a great pipe band of sorts, the Wicked Tinkers; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNEbNPOqLr4

I'm no singer or music teacher but most of us non-singers can do one, maybe one and a half. Good trained singers can do maybe 3 or 4 true octaves. Seven is extrodinary, one of the best I've heard, on CD is the Hawaiian singer nobody ever heard of because he died at age 40 in 1960. "Alfred Aloha Apaka (1919–1960) was one of the influential performers in the history of Hawaii's popular music. Hawaiian Music and Musicians, George Kanahele wrote that Apaka was "the possessor of one of the most remarkable voices to come out of Hawaii. A natural, untrained, voice, it was strong, masculine and agile.....a delicate instrument that could range from B flat to E in pianissimo." My in-laws love Hawaii and the music, there are only 7 of his albums, we have 6 remastered in digital CD. He died and Don Ho stepped in, I've heard Don Ho live, nice funny guy but no Alfred Apaka. My story about the Messiah, Dec. 20, 1996 I had arrived back in WA From Alaska just in time to find out my mother had passed away. Was returning from Seatac airport after picking up another sibling or two in the rented car. We were listening to the Messiah, by the Seattle Philharmonic, crisp and clear on the car's radio. At one of the interludes the announcer mentioned the name of the tenor soloist. It was a guy I went to high school with some 16 yrs previous. On that same trip a couple days earlier we were stranded in the Anchorage airport. It would be at least overnight. After being told be every available carrier that our tickets were no longer any good because our original flight was cancelled my wife and I were both pretty distraught. We finally convinced one of the ticket agents to read the FAA rulebook, and we heard here say something like, OMG, we should've helped these people. They finally did, we were eventually sent to Alaska Airlines to get on their standby list. As we approached the desk I heard a very crisp recording of the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies. I took it as asign that everything was going to be OK.

I have 2700 albums / CD's / tapes / etc.. Actually I probably have more than that but that's how many I have cataloged. And I could still name 100 CD's right off the bat I'd like to get today. I like rock, R&B, country, bluegrass (big time), soul, classical, Christian rock (not contemporary Christian though - too over produced), pop, mountain, jazz, etc. etc. etc..
