Brother, please share some info
on your .327 reloading, if you will.

What components are you using?
Which dies do you use?

I try to keep my components as
compatible as possible these days.
Like powder....instead of having 20
different ones, making up loads using
the same powder for as many calibers
as possible.....

.327federal/.32H&R
I use W231 powder
New Starline brass
Berry's plated HBWC, DEWC, 71grRN
Hornady HBWC, SWC, XTP
Magtech 98gr LRN, 71gr JRN
Lee .32H&R dies for .327 #90809
Lee .32S&W Long dies for .32H&R #90624
[on the 550B]

I've loaded many, many more H&R's than .327's
but that is in the process of changing.

I don't know many people who really
like the .32 enough to load it......
but it has become my favorite.

I still really want one; I was all set to buy one at Sportco about 6 months after Ruger introduced theirs and they had not one round, brass or bullet in the entire store!

still don't see it very often, it's a great round from what I've read and heard. What's the favorite powder, I'm also curious?

I use Lyman carbide 4 die set, part# 7680214. They also will do 32SW and obviously work fine for the .327.
I have also loaded the .327 with the Dillon SDB and there was just barely enough die length, but enough.
On the 550, I use the Lyman dies, so I am not sure if the standard Dillon dies will work for .327, but I suspect they will.


W231/HP38 has been my powder of choice also. TiteGroup has proven excellent also. I have ruled out HS-6 in either the 32HR or 327, it just hasn't burned cleanly and was inconsistent. Clays also did not perform well for me.
The other powders that I would like to try are WSF, H110 and AA #9. I'll get around to those some day.

For bullets, I've really like the Mesiter 115 gn LRNFPs and the Dardas 98 gn BBWCs. The 100 gn XTP's and Midway 100 gn plated FP's have also done well.

Those are bunny-thumpers.

I had a similar load for the .32H&RMag using HBWCs. Excellent cottontail and skunk medicine...I'm guessing they would've work on larger varmints too.


I haven't picked up a .327 yet...still on my wish list though. My favorite powder for the .32H&RMag was WW231.

I put them in the brass
according to the direction
of the 'arrow' printed on the side....

I was going to buy a Square Deal just to load the .327's
.327 was on the box[LGS] and it was listed on Dillons website
and just before I went to purchase it, Dillon removed the
.327 usage from their website.
I called them, and they really weren't too clear why they
no longer recommended it for the .327, so I didn't buy one.

If yours was barely long enough, maybe that's why, and
others had problems, so they back-tracked.

My 550B does them very well, even with only 3 stations [Lee dies].
I don't see any need for heavy crimp, so the Lee's seating and
crimping in station 3 has worked fine.
Maybe with the little 71gr it will require more crimp, then I'll
add a FCD in station 4
