Default The Pre-Revolutionary Origins of the 2nd Amendment

Many people are under the impression that the 2nd Amendment was an arbitrary inclusion in the Constitution without historical precedent. Nothing could be further from the truth. The following traces the history of this Amendment from it's origins in the Colonies.

Very cool. I appreciate the link!

The 2nd Amendment is there as safeguard to prevent tyranny. A warning bell and a right. To protect the common man.

Even now, the US government is being consumed; making policies for the elite, by the elite, from the elite. Whether people want to see it or not political families are modern royalty. The name is different, but their behavior is the same.

Correct of course. This treatise provides insight into the historical and legal basis for that right, and also an educational resource when discussing 2nd Amendment issues with those on the left who object to it's existence, or who claim (falsely) that it does not apply in today's world.

I just finished reading it, quite lengthy but EVERY gun owner should take the time to read. It's eye opening to substitute our modern time and what we face with gun control and what our forefathers faced back then. Alot of the same things going on today, chillingly the same actually.

Thanks for a great read Gunny .

The 2nd Amendment has already fallen. It stands today only because our government has not had the need to delete it form the Constitution. They took away it's power, when they went after the last line in the Constitution, the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed. And effectively removed it from the remainder of the document. Precedent was set. They made a list of guns, and other military type weapons, that we could not have, and then passed laws so that the common man could not has access to them. Now all they have to do is add anything they want to that list.

5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.
16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

Here is another web site that has an enormous amount of historical documents that all refer to the Second Amendment.

I don't know how long the Wayback machine keeps these archives, but you better get what you want before they all disappear.
