Serial # 68Z32949---Browning 20 gauge with 26 inch IC barrel. I assume this is a 1968 gun, but what does the Z stand for. I got a chance to buy this gun for $400. It is 85% with cracked forearm--receiver and barrel look good. Is This gun worth $400? Went to the browning ID site and doesn't say what the Z stands for in the serial number.

Scott,
As you discovered, the "Z" = Light Twenty. The value is tough to say... if you can post pictures of the gun, that would help. Bert H.

The barrel has been reblued and looks like it was done professionally-lighter blue though than the receiver which I know knocks the value down. Forearm cracked-ordered a new one. Inside of barrel is like a mirror. Got it for the wife and she loves shooting it. I ended of getting it for $375, but with the new forearm I will have $450 in it. What's it worth???

Scott,
It is worth what you paid for it... no more, no less. Bert H.

Thanks for the info Bert. I believe it is a better gun than my new Maxus.
