Hey everyone, just thought I would let you all know I just graduated from Basic/AIT at Ft. Benning and I'm currently in the airport waiting to fly out to Ft. Lewis to join the 2nd ID. I earned my blue cord and crossed rifles after 14 weeks of training. Earned my experts marksmanship badge with the M-4 with a 36 out of 40. Currently I don't have a laptop or desktop so visiting the site will be limited for a while. I'll check in when I can though.

Congrats, soldier !
Wondered what you've been up to... Stay in touch. How do you like the M4 ? Ft. Lewis should have some laptops for you to check in with....if you don't get too busy......

I loved the M-4. During FTX I wasn't carrying the M-4, I had the M249 SAW. Fun to shoot, not so fun to run 2 miles, carry a 150 pound litter another mile, then ruck another 12 miles with.

Anything I could say would be redundant. Keep safe, protect your squad mates. Live up to your oath. If you go into combat, realize that courage is overcoming fear. Come back alive. I salute you.

Congrats and thank you for your service! I hope you never have to go in harm's way, but if you do, you will return home safely and with honor!

Ft. Benning? that brings back memories I was in the 63rd Eng Bat. and my barracks were just across the road from the Rangers. crap, that's been almost 20 years ago now. we built the new motor pool to the north (iirc).

Congrats. Sounds like you're off to a good start. You'll enjoy Ft Lewis, especially if you take the time to get out and take advantage of the sorroundings. The 2nd ID is pretty high speed. I'm not sure if the upgraded Strykers are coming onboard yet, with the original ones they were a major player in the success of the surge in Iraq. You will probable deploy to Afghanistan, but not until you've had time to develop with your unit and you will have additional training. Good luck, and wear that Indian Head with pride.

What are you planning down the road, Jump school, marksmanship unit?
Stayed in the barracks there for All Amy matches and felt like I was in a hotel. I could not believe the accommodations compared to where I served before.

welcome from another (former) 11 series, I'm also at Ft lewis now. You will be quite happy when you get here, it's a hundred times better than GA and Ft Beginning, I can guarantee that!
Bring a raincoat, it get's a bit wetter here than sand hill...

Congratulations from a 1982 Fort Benning graduate, I was an 11H10E9 sent to the Combat Support Company, 3/32nd 7ID WAAAY back when it was at Fort Ord CA. I think I own some clothes that still smell like red clay...

And the old saying, keep your ass down and your head lower. My cousin didn't and got a purple heart and two additional stars on it. That bony marine butt was just to fine a target.

I plan on going to jump school and sniper school, but both of those are up to my unit. I also think I'm going to try and get secondary MOS training as a mechanic so I can help work on our strikers when they get damaged.

look familiar?
![]() If you need some good places to shoot around Fort lewis, hit me up. The skeet range on post is the nicest skeet facility in the whole northwest, I go there every Thursday around lunch. It's open W,Thur, Sat/Sun from 1000-1500, sporting clays is 1st saturday every month. Range 15 is the rifle/pistol range, open on weekends only, same hours. Don't forget to stop by Evergreen Theatre on 2nd Division drive (opposite end of Gray airfield from the PX/main post area by Ranger Bn) and sit through an SF briefing! Every Wednesday at noon there's a brief, it's worth an hour of your time when you can break away from work for a bit.
