What do you think about the Springfield's.
Would like to buy a .45 (when funding is available) and was checking out the Springfields. Mainly due to the attractive price. Then, I was shooting at my gun club a few days ago. There was a guy there with a .45 Springfield fresh out of the box, first time shooting it. Appartently the bullets were "tumbling" end for end because the holes in his target were elongated. About 1" long. He was pissed. Packed it up and left. Was this a problem with the gun? Or the ammo? Other then the Springfield's can you recommend other makes that are reasonably priced. thanks

Springfield’s are fine guns ,a great price and they keep a good retail value

Carmen, that seems like a good one to start off with. I'm not a 1911 expert, but have had a Springfield. What price are the asking for the basic Mil-Spec model.
Here was the first one I've owned...it was a little too big to start out on, but it was a nice handgun.

Why did you sell that gun SG. I remember when you bought it from Kevin and was wishing I had bought it.

Didn't get a firm price yet but I think its about $400. I like the pic you attached. Looks like a handful. |

SA just raised ALL their MSRP prices. budsgunshop has the mil-spec for $440 delivered a while back, but I don't know if he ran out on inventory.

Carmencip,
My son & I went out and put a total of 100 rds thru my two new SA MilSpec 1911A1's. They performed flawlessly in all respects. That is with ball ammo, I haven't tried them with Hydra Shocks yet. The only thing I have to do is replace the cheezey brown plastic grips they come with. I bought both of mine on Auction Arms at $425 and $399. berto
