Default Well, he called again!

The old vet I got the last colt from called again and I met him this a.m. This is a 1943 Colt #1.089,xxx, slide number matches the frame, colt45 auto marked on the side of the barrel just above the leg., slide stop checkered and the hammer is the short wide spur. The mag is marked C-L. Gun checked out all correct with Clawsons book. Not the cleanest '43, but better than a rebuild. He said this is the last he will let go but he still has my number.

Just a bit about this fine old Colt. The serial number falls in the 4,171 guns produced with serial numbers of Union Switch and Signal. Colt and the contract manufacturers of Remington Rand, Ithaca and US&S had guns with duplicate numbers until the error was caught. A dissambly of the gun revealed the firing pin was in the white, the extractor nose was unfinished and the firing pin stop had a clear impression of the slide serial number. It has more of the original parts than some guns of this age.
