I found a holster for my P38. The gun is Mauser byf 44, the holster is marked jw4. A fellow collector in our club specializes in Lugers, P38 and their mags and other accessories. He got three unissued holsters from another trader he has dealt with for years. This one was correct for my gun and the nicest of the three.

Silver....is that (holster) an original issue or one of the newer reproductions?

Original, with the white stiching. All of the reproductions I have seen at the shows have brown, or tan thread. They are not an exact copy. It's the same with the U.S. marked W.W. II holsters that are so prvalent at the gun shows now.
The collector I got it from has collected lugers and P38s for decades. His library is very extensive. |
