Hello BA
looks like you have been pretty busy. You have a pretty neat collection there. If you add all those on your wish list you could start your own firearms museum. Good luck

That's a neat list of guns, Buford. Collectors have varying interest. The gun collectors club I belong to is a great mixture of interests. Each meeting we have a "show and tell' time. People bring a gun, or guns from their collection and explain the details of each piece. We have dentists, professors, high tech, gun dealers, antique shop owners, etc. as members. One can learn a lot from these experts on various collector items.
I'm hung up of .45s, but have a few other things beside. 1917 Colt Revolver 1918 Colt 1919 Colt 1926 Colt 1942 Colt 1943 Colt 1943 Colt, duplicate Ser. # US&S range 1944 Colt Lend Lease 1945 Colt LL 1943 US&S (2) 1944 Rem Rand 1944 Rem Rand LL 1915 Springfield Armory .45 1914 REM-UMC 1943 Ithaca Colt Woodsman Target .22, 1952 Walther P .38 byf44 w/ holster 1918 Luger, two original mags, brought back from North Africa Springfield Trap Door .45-70, 1884 1943 Win. Carbine 1942 Win. Garand Springfield Mdl. 1903, 1931 Remington Mdl. 12, .22, 1931 I smell another US&S in the wind. It came home. Good luck on finding the most desired gun you dream of! Silver
that is quite the collection of Colts you have there. I too enjoy collecting Colts. But I just started and do not have as varied a collection as you do. You should be proud of that collection. Let us know when you add to it.

Thanks, Merc! I have read some of your post and you have a start. I've probably been at it many years longer than you. I'm just a novice by some collection standards.

This past January (2005) I got interested in the Fiala Arms & Equipment Co. guns. I heard these were originated by Anthony Fiala meant especially for adventurers exploring frigid places like the North and South Poles of our planet. They were manufactured in New Haven, CT. His company logo was a polar bear. He had his Model 1920 designed as a magazine-fed repeater that fired single-shot because he didn't trust the semi-auto action (like the Colt pre-Woodsman of the same era) in sub-zero temps. The gun typically came with a 3" barrel for concealed carry, a 7 1/2" barrel for targets and plinking, and a 20" barrel with forestock all three in a carrying case with a detachable shoulder stock. As near as anyone can figure, there were approximately 5,000 guns made in various configurations with various names on them such as: Fiala, Schall, Columbia Arms, and Botwinik Bros. (Check your C&R listings guide.) In the first seven months of this year I managed to acquire 7 guns - including four 3-barrel sets, three of these in original cases - and by October an 8th gun. Below are pictures of my three cased sets. All have matching numbers on the various parts. FFF

Well, stuff happens! I sold one US&S, the 1926 Colt, the Rem-Umc, a 1943 Colt, the Walther P .38 byf44 w/ holster and the Springfield Trap Door .45-70, 1884.
Then I picked up a 1943 Colt with a duplicate number of Remingto Rand, a Welbey Mark IV .38 S&W and a 1940 Colt Now my hobby fund is flush for the next Tulsa Show in April. |
