Default Officer Grips

Found these MOP grips at a garage sale for $10.00. I can't decide if I like 'em. What do ya'll think?

BEFORE

AFTER

Definately the rubber is better for carry, but I don't carry this one. Anyone else own these "mother of pearl" type grips?

Nice lookin piece. My preference is either rosewood or cocobolo in checkered diamond plume. This is my taste only. Never did like the looks of "mother of pearl" as it looks like a pimp gun. Just my opinion! Your mileage may vary! Too much hanging from too small a gun. The gun was designed for close in combat, not a 100 yard shootout!

Just one pervert's point of view.
I continue to shoot a 'skinny gun' 'cause the grip angle never varies. My Officer's Model carries some really thin grips, about half the Gov't model thickness, that I bought from Brownells. Whether it's a 5", 4 1/4", or a 3" gun, the plain old colt points the same.
Talk about meeting an old friend in strange places!
Having shot the same guns for about forever, it is indeed odd , for me, to pick up a "new to me" pistol, and not drum a close to possible target with the first magazine.
I don't mean to be snobbish, but Glock, Smith, beretta need to display the same consistancy, just to buy into the game!

I'd stick with the ones ya had on there to begin with. I think they look better. The "mother of pearl" just dont do it for me. I'm with IPT about the rosewood and cocobolo.

Sorry - gotta go with wood or Ivory. But hey, its just like cars and bikes - to each his own. The few MOP pistols I've held always seemed too slick.

Ivory = Patton, MOP = Pimp as per a famous old interview with the General.

I think you need a tow truck to carry it. I like wood not pearls. My preference but she does look nice. Don

Uhm. Well, Patton certainly liked 'em, but not on a 1911.
