Third generation PT145. Daily carry. Great gun. Now 600 rounds plus. Most problems have to do with the magazines. I had one bad magazine, and replaced it. No further problems.

Regarding your question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taurus_Millennium_series The 3rd series added single/double action triggers on several models in lieu of the double action only of the first two series. So, if you are DA Only, you do not have a 3rd generation. I happen to have acquired a 3rd (lightly used) for a Christmas present from me to myself. Took it out to the range a week later for a test drive. Fifty rounds, all reloads, Roundnose, HP and 147 grain cast. At 10 yards they all grouped about the size of a large apple. No failures. Acceptable accuracy for such a short barrel? I think so. |

I have a PT 111. It is a good gun for close-up (15 yrd line or closer) but it isn't go at the 25 yard line. My biggest complaint with this weapon is field stripping it!! I have field stripped hundreds of guns in my lifetime, Taurus screwed the pooch with the PT 111! I hate disassembling the gun. Also, I found it a little bulky for CCW. The best CCW weapon I've seen so for is a 380.

Also shopping for and was turned on to the Millenium model(s) in the 9mm or 45 cal. When talking with an employee at the gun shop in Texas he STRONGLY recommended avoiding that model primarily for the trigger action/pul weight etc,... but didn't throw out other continued issues they seem to be plagued with. I was turned on to a FM manufactured 9mm, poly frame, 14+1, ambidextrious safety, 3lb trigger(I believe). Extremely happy with this guns action, reliability, accuracy.

My PT-111 is a great pistol, reliable, never jams, and does what it
was designed to do.It however, like my Bersa Thunder .380 is out of date. I bought both for concealed carry.Great for the times. Now? Manufacturers are making pistols for the CCW boom that has taken off in the last year or so.The new pistols are lighter, smaller, thinner and just a more comfortable gun to carry.I still carry the PT-111 on occasion, but mostly carry the Ruger LCP.I've sold my Bersa and am thinking of selling the PT-111.My next buy?Looking at the Ruger LC9.A CCW made for carrying.Hearing good things on it. |

I have a PT 111 and I love it. I didn't enjoy it at first but I figured out how to properly field strip the gun. I have never had a jam with it. It is designed to be a CCW weapons. It performs well up close. Don't try to shoot at the 50 yard line with it. I paid 200 bucks for mine used (400 rounds down the pipe) so I thought I got a great deal. I carry it everyday.

good day guys!!! I'm a filipino, anybody could help me decide with this . . .
I've been planning to purchase a pt111 next month, I'd like to buy a glock 26, but due to budget considerations, I might as well go for a cheaper one . . . the taurus pt111 Millennium Pro. I've been watching some review in the internet and there's some comment with regard to its accuracy due to its barrel length (3.25") some say it should be at least 3.5" for the bullet to spin good. How about the gun materials was it reliable? If I proceed with my purchase, that will be my first firearm. I would highly appreciate any advice . . . thank you ![]() Last edited by nutnplastic; 04-08-2011 at 09:37 PM.. |

We have a PT111 in 9 mm that my wife loves. It is a good gun for what it was designed for, self defense. It has been plenty accurate and is a great size for her. Taurus also makes the newer 24/7 series in a Pro C model that has some nice updates as well. I have a 24/7 OSS DSS in 40 cal that I had to send back because the mag release was too stiff. Taurus turned the gun around in 4 weeks and it works like a charm. There are plenty of Taurus haters out here but I have not had any issues myself. That is not to say that there have not been issues, but I have found that the attitude that you approach the issue with has a great deal to do with the response. We have to remember that on the other end of the phone is a person too. My biggest complaint with CS is the long wait times to talk to a person. Good luck.

Old Guy & TnRebel
Thank you so much sir. Your response did a lot of help. And I think, I got to go with pt111. But still I have two choices, the the pt111 bp (blue steel slide) or that pt111 ssp (matte stainless steel slide). I want that "blue steel" version, because I want my weapon dark. Does it has any difference (except for the color) with regards to the durability of the steel that its using? Once again sir, thank you so much. Last edited by nutnplastic; 04-09-2011 at 06:00 PM.. |

The only difference that you will notice over time is the black/blue on the slide high spots will visibly show more wear. Other than that, you should not see any difference at all. Keeping a gun cleaned and properly lubricated will do a great deal for the longevity of the piece. There are many good and well proven products to accomplish this but I recently found a product named Gunzilla that is non toxic and seems to do a good job of cleaning and protecting. Good luck on your choice.

I have the Millennium PT 111 in 9mm. After a couple thousand rounds now, I've got nothing really bad to say about it. 2 small things....1 - I wish the sights where a little better. It doesn't adjust for yardage, only windage. 2 - I've never liked the trigger and this seems to be the biggest complaint among people I've spoken to. Otherwise, its a great little gun for the money. My wife likes it because, like someone said, it has a smaller handle. That doesn't bother me 'cause I'm used to shooting smaller semi-autos. I would defiantly recommend the Taurus Millennium PT 111.

Nutnplastic:
Guns are sort of like people, they have personalities. You can buy two of the same model and they will be somewhat different. The Taurus trigger has a lot of travel before it engages. Once it engages it tightens up until you put enough pressure on it to break the sear free from the striker mechanism. But, that is only on the first round in a previously empty chamber. Once you fire the first shot, the semi auto has a trigger reset. This means that you only let the trigger out until you hear the reset click. At that point you are ready to fire again alleviating all of the trigger travel. My two Taurus pistols have shorter reset than any other gun that I have except for my 1911. So despite the long initial pull, the Taurus trigger is pretty sweet for follow up shots. If you were already aware of the reset, I apologize for the redundant information. However, someone who does not know that may read this post and gain some knowledge. Good luck.

Old Guy,
Yes sir, I've already got an idea about that trigger reset but I have to admit that I'm really not that sure about it, until I've read it from your reply that gives me a confirmation for my ideas. Thank you and more power. ![]() Last edited by nutnplastic; 04-13-2011 at 05:13 PM.. |

OK, I just joined this forum and have to ask...This thread is 8 years old (was started in 2003). Doesn't that bother anybody? I mean really, I think the OP grew up, got married and has 3 kids now. Anyway...
I've owned a pt111 mil pro for 3 years now & really like this gun. I carry a Glock 27 as my CC gun & use a Glock21sf at home for HD, but when I travel I carry the Taurus Mil Pro since it's cheaper & seems to be just as reliable. When I visit SC they disarm me since they don't acknowledge my Ga. permit, so I take my pt111 because it stays in my Jeep all day. I wish they would change their laws over there. Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro has been very, very good to me.

I have a millennia pt111pro 9mm and a 24/7 pro .45. I love them bothA
and try to get to the range as much as possible. I had a S&W sigma 9 mm but the pin holding trigger assembly started to back out after less than 1000 rds. I sold it and got the pt 111 and have only two ftf and 1 fte changed ammo and have had no problems. Love the way both feel in my hand. I am a mechanic by trade and all tools have to fit good or I won't use it. Taurus is a good company as far as I am concerned and will buy more whe the budget allows. |

No way! There is a library of information on here covering nearly every mass-produced firearm (and a good number of specialty arms) made in the last 140 years or so. Why should we stop the discussion?

Dang. The gun dealers in my hood (FFL's in my city) all said the same thing. "I have shipped more of those back than any other gun." I really don't know what this means. Who did they ship it back to and why? Cant the owner just ship it to taurus and get it fixed? Wow. I read some other forums and my very first handgun purchase is a pt140 pro. I bought it used. When I got it I fired about 70 rounds of winchester 165gr fmj's out of it. FLAWLESS. The second time I shot it, I finished off that 100 round box and put another 150 rounds of aguilla 180gr fmjs out of it. I had 2 misfires. I blame the ammo but I am a newbie. Dang good lookin gun, takes down easy, looks purdy. Got the stainless slide with it. It performs as well as my buddies m&p. No it does better. The girl at the range said I got a good one. She should read this forum. Pfaw. I love it and will carry it wherever I can except CA. Don't want it to go to impound. btw TNRebel where did you get that nice lookin grip?
