It is easy to note what you say Ms. Army---simply scope out the columns of figures of how many visits vs. so few responses. The Judge and His Lady Fair are always at the front of the pack when it comes to visits and replies--that sure is a fair system, and I always appreciate a few words from them even when I fuss around and put in my jokes and trash talk. I heard something interesting yesterday over FOX news. In and around Baghdad, there was a mortar barrage that killed 5 US Army troops---this English reporter had the story early in the day. Do you know what he reported? He reported that and hour and a half elapsed before counterbattery fire was effected---do you know what that means--it means someone in charge of those tubes of our forces was not able to make a decision to return fire. Later in the day I heard another report that the 120 Mike-Mike fire was returned and 4 insurgents were killed. I emphasise, "MY ASS"!!!!! Has this new arrangement of Iraqi/Coalition authority so tied up our area commanders they cannot function? To those of you who need further explanation, the crater anaylsis of the incoming rounds impacting area, can determine very quickly, and quite accurately, from whence the incoming originated and direct counterbattery fire to those area. Gunny Gawne, USMC, whos served as our battalion military advisor on such matters as counter battery fire with mortars would have growled, in his own imitatible way, "we'll put them 81's right in their gawd dammed mess kit Senior Chief"!! Come on now you readers and lurkers---tell us what you think and what you feel. Remember what I have said before, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT do not have to be TERMS OF ENDEARMENT. Chief

My personal opinion is, untie thier hands and let them fight. Keep the press away so they do not have to be PC and do thier job. Don

They should deal with insurgents the same way the Romans did. This is pathetic.

I agree 100%.

The response should be instanta and without any mercy whatsoever. They should be taught that if you try to harm us, successful or not, you will be attacked.

As Remy said, when anywhere, do as the Romans did!

As i dont know what units are attached to who, i am going to make this assumption based on our current equipment and Doctrine. Want my qualifications if you dont already know, ask.

There should be a TPQ 36/37 in the area as part of a TAB (target aquisition battery). This piece of equipment can determine within 1 meter where incoming rounds came from BEFORE they even hit the ground. In most cases we can have our counter battery shots in the air vefore thier rounds hit.

Now to the situationat hand, I have no clue as to where the Cluster of mistakes are happening. As is often the case, we probably dont know the whole story. It can be something as simple as the enemy tubes were placed in a school or a mosque or something and they were getting permission to fire at a No Fire Target. We will probalbly never know.
