Default Update on my friend that is dying of cancer (not good news) & a bit on my me!

First of all I have not been on the board for some time so decided to log on while I cannot sleep. Got some updates on my health and my friend dying of cancer.

As to my health issues, no results of both cat scans as of yet or so the VA has told me. Maybe they have read them and not good but who knows! I know it is still a problem they need to find the solution to because I am sick of being sick!

As to my friend that is at the hospice center dying of cancer, where do I begin except tonight/day backwards. We were called in today/night because they thought he could die within the next 24 hours! He fell out of bed last night banging his head, cutting a huge gash in it, and blacking his eyes! It is to a point that someone HAS to be with him 24 hours a day to sit with him at the hospital. That began tonight. He would only respond to my ol lady, she gave him some sweet tea to sip on and was useing mouth moisterizer(spellig?) on him as well. He really does not react to any one else! His breath is shallow at times and labored at others. He has not ate a full mouth full in 2 weeks, he decided to starve himself to death being I talked hime out of shooting himself, 5 times to be exact! I know he holds it against me but I could not live with myself if I had not tried. 2 nights ago some a$$hole punks broke into his home and stole $20,000+ of guns! 60+ handguns, 2 model 12 shotguns, 4+ 30-06 rifles, and 1 Springfield M1A1 with a huge night vision scope & 5 mags. The Springfield was a special edition being 1 of 500! Some deal he came across a couple to three years ago I think. We found out who done it but have not gotten anything to arrest them with or search them with yet. We are attempting to set up a buy of the M1A1, being I can pick it out easy, and if we do then we have grounds for a search warrent or so the State Police Dective told us. As of now I have at least 500 of his firearms locked up in my place, very secure to say the least as well as booby trapped! I knew the huge antique bear traps I have would one day come in handy! I found out he wants us to sell all his guns once he is gone, all 4000+ of them!

I found out last week my buddy wants us to sell all of his guns without a huge auction! There are collector guns that many will be interested in. He does not want a huge auction because he is afraid that many that are worth good money will go for little or nothing. We will probably sell them a few at a time but do not know for sure yet being there are so many. Would give all his as well as all mine just to get his health back. Makes me feel like a ghoul talking about them but he wanted me to ensure they were all safe. Have not told him of the break in for fear he would die on the spot! I tried to get him to sell them before he went into the Hospice Center and his health got so bad so he could enjoy his money but alas he is as stubbern as a mule, kind of like me so my ol lady tells me! Lots of unissued/ matching numbered including matching numbered bayonets 303 British, Mausers, Jap rifles, and US rifles as well as others. Also many unfired (except at the factory) S&W revolvers both newer models as well as recessed/pined barreled ones. Lots of guns that have not been seen in many a year. One of the biggest S&W collections in the area if not the US!

Sorry it is a long read but have a lot on my mind. I also miss not posting on the board from time to time. Hope all are well and everyone's family are well as well. I will check back in when I can.

Just because you may not have been on in a while does not mean our prayers have ceased and they will continue for you and your friend.

You can tell true gun lovers when they can think about their guns and their mortality both at the same time.

Hang in there. I doubt the VA is holding out on you; they'd have no real reason to do that. They're probably just slow.

Having done online auctions since '99, I can say that the gun sale will benefit from the Internet when the time comes. Collectors' items always seem to generate interest even when there are a lot of "average" auctions going begging for bids. I'm guessing it would be well worth the family's while to let an online auction assistant have 20-30% and sell them online, later on when the time comes. Meanwhile, don't worry about that part of it. Just be sure to sting those thieves good for trying to steal your friend's estate.

Don't worry about long posts. We're all family here and are more than ready to offer a "listening ear". Please continue to post when you can, and know that you and your friend both remain in our prayers.
