The Western Channel is just the best. Just watched another Richard Widmark western... (no singing in this one). Really love those old Gene Autry and Roy Rogers oldies, though.
My wife cant stand it. ![]()

I only watch two things on TV religiously. The Western Channel and Combat.
All the rest can disappear and I wouldn't care. Of course, I will be watching the Olympics. I still havent decided whether I like Gene or Roys singing best. This decision has been pending for 50 years now....I do, however, have more Gene albums then Roy albums. muley |

Ain’t a western, but I still watch “7 brides for 7 brothers” when it comes on.

Those old westerns were the best.I can remember when,if you had a quarter, you could get into the Saturday matinee, buy a pop and popcorn, and watch the good guys win every time. They could shoot all-day and never re-load,never got their hats knocked off during a fight, and never got dirty.Their horses were their best friends, and they always had a side-kick.Roy,Gene,and Lash were my favorites. Those were the days!! What was the name of the movie in which both Gene Autry and Roy Rogers appeared? |

I feel pretty certain I know, too.
Hint: You have to remember that Roy was part of Gene's singing and backup crew when he, Roy, first got started.....

Yep......the entire group that would be later known as "The Sons Of The Pioneers" was in the movie, but they didn't sing.
What was the name of the movie? BTW, I've got some video tapes of some of John Wayne's early westerns when he was a "Singin' Cowboy".......pretty funny. And....my nomination for the Worst Singin' Cowboy Performance Of All Time....and the winner is........Clint Eastwood in "Paint Your Wagon". My dog can sing better than that......with a bad cold! ![]() |

OK, I'll tell you....it was "The Big Show". 1938, I think. Not that I was there, but two more years and I would have been.

'Course, Lee Marvin couldn't sing either, that's why he talked most of his songs. My favorite was I Was Born Under a Wan'drin Star.

Agree, SoMo.
Racer, wasn't that movie called "Tumblin Tumbleweeds"? I believe that was the first with Gene and the Sons of the Pioneers.
