Default Model 586

I've got a S & W 586, .357 magnum, 8 3/8 in barrel revolver, adj front sights. Since ya can't see it, assume "nice to excellent" condition. What would the potential trade-in value? Thanks

Blue Book value.....

S&W Model 586 (Distinguished Combat Magnum)

98% - $285
95% - $215
90% - $195
80% - $185

Add 5%-10% for nickel finish
Add $4 for white outline rear sight
Add $22 for 8 3/8" barrel
Add $35 for adj. front sight

That's the Blue Book "market value". What some dealer would offer you as a trade-in???? Depends on what the markup is on the gun you're trading it in for....or how bad he wants to sell it....or whether the 586 is a fast mover....or a lot of things.

Country Gunsmith can give you a better idea of the Trade In Value.

Sell it to an individual, put in up on one of the bigger online auction sites. Would bring $350 easily, maybe $400+ if you catch the right buyer at the right time.

In this area "trade in" value to a dealer is about 2/3 of blue book. Out right sale to dealer is 1/2 of blue book. As you can see a private sale or one of the auction sites would be much more advantageous to you.

Thanks for the insight everyone....never listed on an auction site....private sale has potential (thru FFL of course).
