This puppy has a funny coloring on the receiver, let's call it a dark purple or burgandy. Was the receiver origanally case hardened and was it blued over?Funny, one of the large pins is correct color of blue.Wood is pretty good.Little rust by muzzle.
At around 200 it might make a all weather field gun/trunk gun.Weight and balance don't seem too bad. That receiver color bothers me.Anybody know what they were from factory?

They were sort-of case-hardened. Not true case-hardening, but cyanide colored.

Sounds like somebody tried to reblue the receiver with the wrong salts.
