Fun or Fatal??? Need to know!!! - The Firearms Forum

I have a ruger P-90 45a.c.p. Can I safely shoot a.c.p.+p. ammo in this firearm. Need to know before chambering a round.

The Ruger is strong enough to safely shoot the round, but I wouldn't make a habit of shooting "+p" in ANY handgun. What is the point? If a hollowpoint .45 can't do the job with one round, just keep pulling the trigger until it does! Actually, that's the whole point of semiauto's - increased firepower.

You should have no problem with .45ACP +P in your Ruger, assuming your Ruger is in good shape.

Higher pressure load therefore more velocity. Yes, a hotter load.

that's what I have in my .38 spl. 1 1/4 barrel is +p pretty weak frame so I don't shoot them for target just for defense......but I shoot speer gold dots and that's all I saw was +p so what do ya do.........

The way it was explained to me, the first two go to the center of mass; the next, and as many as needed, to the computer; shoot 'til the threat goes away.
Having killed a couple of men, I usually do the second thing first, and go for the head shot.
+P ammo is a crutch for poor marksmanship; use it if you must.
