Default "build your own" kits

I'm interested in trying to make one of these FMJ model derringers that you build yourself. I just want to know if a novice like me (maybe two years gun experience) could "easily cut your own breechface and sideplates" to quote the ad. the people at cobray refused to even answer me. I know I could just buy the gun from Leinad complete, but I'm up for the challenge if I thought I was capable.

They are crude designs, and would be no more difficult than a high-school metal shop project.

That said, you wont have much when you're done.
