I acquired one Parkerized 30-rd. mag with my Underwood M1 carbine (a definite olive drab cast to it). Since then I've only come across blued mags which are near-black in color and reflective. They all seem to work fine, but I have a hankering for more good Parkerized mags if and when I find some.
I'm guessing the Parkerized were around as early as WWII -- or could be Korean vintage or even Viet Nam, but don't really know. Any insight would be of interest. Thanks.

I would guess they have been refinished. All I have seen are blue/black. Any military .45 mags that are parked have been refinished. I have a couple of carbine mags in the original wax paper and they are the dark blue/black.

Now that I look again I'm not sure if this mag has any green in it after all -- maybe just dull gray, but it sure seemed Parkerized to me. I haven't known refinishers to do these mags over in this kind of a finish, but it's possible. Especially if it's foreign made or US re-imported. I do like the look, and it works fine. I had heard people complain that 30s don't work, but the ones I have, in both colors, do hold up well. Wish there were markings.

I have seen zillions of 30 rd mags-all blued.
I was issued a brand new M2 in Vietnam in 1968-came dry wrapped with two blued mags wrapped in foil. The troops I worked with all carried M2 carbines-blue 30 rounders. The 15s were parkerized. There wer a lot of carbines in RVN |
