Red face Old Winchester Octagon Model 94

Just got back from the local shop, and he took in a nice old Winchester on consignment. It would look real nice next to my 1922 circa saddle ring carbine. Too bad Im broke!!!

The one he has is a circa 1923 Model 94 in 30/30,Octagon, 26 inch barrel, with an old Lyman Peep on it.

$950 a little steep I think but what he is asking for it and what sells it for are two different things.

I like that! I had(stolen ) a 1918 16" Trapper with a saddle ring, and I sure miss that gun. E-mail Bert H. and he can give you the values on both of those 94's.

Depending on the rifle's condidtion, these rifles bring good money. If we can get a picture of the other side of your rifle we can find you a closer price. However, depending on condition of the shop gun, $950 would not be a bad deal. If it is color case hardened, like yours, they bring more money.
I lightened up your pic a little bit to better see it.

What condition was the shop gun in?

What is the barrel length on your gun?

Is the one at the shop blued or case hardened? I am going to move this to the ask the experts. We need CountryGunsmith here to evaluate, He is a collector and knows far more than my books tell me. Stay tuned.

It has the nickle steel barrel and I believe it is blued.

Hello, Pa.

Looks like a standard SRC from the pics. In that condition, about $500 or so but that sight will pull $100 by itself any day.

As far as the 1894 rifle you mention, $950 is too steep unless it has special order features. The octagon barrel was an option (standard was round) but still a common one.
