I'm looking for some insight/direction on the positives and negatives of OD Green or Stainless for a 1911 before I buy. I really like the look of OD Green but I've always been a stainless guy. Anyone have any pointers on either?
I'm also wondering about what to go with for sights. I was set on getting adjustable at first but I've noticed that a lot of the 1911 models have the Novak Tritium Night Sights. What should I go with and why? Here's the two I'm eyeballing right now.... I like the look of this one the best but not sure about the sights and the durability of the OD finish. http://www.springfield-armory.com/im...105MLLarge.jpg http://www.springfield-armory.com/im...9132LLarge.jpg

Both are great 1911's but I think this will be your personal choice.
Some pistolsmiths will not build a 1911 with a stainless frame and slide. The reason stated is the pistol will not hold an accuracy job for very long. I personally don't know if this is true or not. The OD green is a newer finish on 1911's so it has more appeal. If you plan on doing target shooting with alot of different ammo, by all means, go with adj sights. |

If you are going to do a lot of shoting, the SS will require more cleaning to keep it looking nice , and fewer shots to make it look filthy.
