Thought I had already posted my paro Para's The Black P1640 is for IPSC. After 20K rounds I had a new Schumann bull barrel & Wilson trigger installed. The stainless P1445 is my IDPA friend & latest edition to the armory. I just love them both.

I hear Crp uses it mostly for cleaning birds, Avis Flammae. Could be just a rumor though.

Ns 1911, you have either a winning lottery ticket, or a live grenade, in that pistol!
I see no serial number, where it should be, on the righthand side of the frame; if it can be proven, to be before 1934 production, it could be gold! But, as it is marked "U. S. Property" I know those folks well enough to know that, if it was ever really, theirs, there was a serial muumber, on the right hand side of the frame, under the slide stop pin. The fact that it is a 1911, not a 1911-A1, is visually obvious, for both frame and slide, and this makes it's birthday pre 'National Firearms Act'(1934), which was the law making a serial number a requirement, removal of such, a crime, etc, IIRC My personal thought is this is a very early Colt "Lunch box" Model 1911 Pistol, stolen, a piece at a time, from the Colt Factory, by an employee. Whoever did this is very old, to dead, today, but if you should be able to track the pistol, backwards, as to ownership, and document the provenance, the gun might well be worth far too much, to shoot!

This is the newest of my toys; Done by Armand Swenson, in 1968. It's even nicer than it looks!

That is SMOKIN' Stash! Is it set up for softball, or will it shoot anything? Out here (South GA) I never stumble across cool stuff like Swensons.... (Green with envy....)

Too pretty, and too hard to replace, to fool around with high end loads, in. Got several 5" 1911's built around 'big number' loads, so, likely, I will never know, for sure. Smash, you are obviously on line, so don't lay that South Georgia BS, on me! I found this one, via a friend, in Washington State, and got into the deal when the friend had second thoughts about the pistol; When Donny first asked about the gun, he was reluctant to 'dive in', over the price, and questions of originality. Having told him it was the 'real deal', and a bargain, he still had reservations, to which my comment was, "One of us needs to buy it"; he said, "Go for it", and the rest is history! This was on another 1911 Board, without a price, until the seller was pressed, to make a price, as I understand. One look at the pics told me enough to see that it was a genuine pistol, and a (free) cingular cell call confirmed all the little details, at which point, the details were the only issue! That's the treasure in all the 'on-line' communications, I endure, hoping for a pearl, amidst the swine! Once in a while, the pearl appears, and needs to be siezed, with gusto! Since I am in South Texas, the 'too remote' arguement simply won't fly! All the best, Terry

My bad, I thought I recalled seeing a post where you found it at a show. Yep, I troll a bit and lucked into my recent Marlin purchase on *********. A fair trade at a fair price and a local FFL transfer. PRetty smooth transaction overall. Either way, you done good, that's a good looking piece.

Smash, in reviewing this thread, I now understand what you said, about the gunshow; it was another Swenson, a 9mm FN High Power, also converted to double action, by Louis Seecamp, that I rooted up at a gunshow!
Obviously "not right", laying on the table, I picked it up, spurred by the roll pin, in the 'dust cover' portion of the slide, a 'giveaway' so to speak, of it's provenance, saw the applied bushing, realised that it was 'too fat', and discovered the 'applied' rear strap. For this pistol, the seller could have named any price, and I'd have paid! Armand did not particularly like the 'High Power', preferring to work on 1911's, but did accurise about two dozen, over the years, and the roll pin, and bushing, were a dead 'giveaway'! Keep your ducks in a row, and know, thouroughly, the subject you pursue; that's my advice! I happened to be in the right place, at the right time, with ample amounts of cash, one of the benefits of being "without adult supervision", ie, single, again! And, knew my subject, intimately ( I visited, frequently, and worked for, Armand, for a while, when he was still in Gardena, Ca, so, have a really easy time recognising his work! Even so, the FN was a treasure, and after the young man who sold it to me, was identified to me as Tim Ferguson, son of the late Gunwriter, Tom Ferguson, it became even clearer this was a significant buy. After talking to Charlie Petty, at the direction of a mutual friend, and being told, by him, that Larry Seecamp immediately recognised the pistol, as Louis , his dad, had made comment that they were "More work than they were worth, to convert", and that he would never do another one, the reality of it's uniqueness fell on me like a ton of bricks! I still am looking for a 'staight up' Swenson 'smithed, High Power, and may well die, before finding it, but I am looking! Every show, every shop. And if I find one of his early 'Bobcats', I will buy that, too, without regard to price! My fetish, and budget, I understand, but, like anything else, with a finite supply (the guy is dead) and an increasing demand, the worth can only go UP!

At least you're south of the real problem area! Best Wishes on your visit. I loved SD when I was stationed there as a Squid. But don't that against me! ![]()
