Default #1 son did pretty good.

Took #1 son to the range to shoot in his very first competition match Saturday. He did good. He didn’t beat old dad, but tuck a few matches under his belt, and it won’t be long.

He shot the “Texas Star” better than anyone else there, with only one miss. (I had two) It is a star with a plate at each point of the star. After the first plate is shot, the star starts to spin. You HAD to shoot one of the bottom plates first. (which gets it to moving REAL good) Then alternate shots between the star, and droppers. There were “no shoots” behind it on both sides, so you could only shoot the plates when they were at the bottom or top of their swing. When he got done with it, he got a standing ovation from the other competitors. (It is a tough shoot, some people actually ran out of ammo trying)

Oh ya, you had to shoot this after shooting a (prone, kneeling, standing, standing, kneeling, prone) 50 yard, C zone or better, 6 slug position, then a 33 round, 5 position (if you didn’t miss) shotgun course. Not counting a couple of pistol courses before that.

Delighted to hear it.

alaflyguy is also a better shot with a hand gun than I !
I can best him with a long gun, though.

Good to hear the young'uns getting their fet wet with some shooting sports. Give Dad a pat on the back also for taking the time to instill such a sport. Those Texas stars can be tough sometimes for even the most experienced shooters.

Way to go #1 son
