Question how do you lighten trigger pull on a 10/22?

how do you lighten the trigger pull on a rugger 10/22? i have been told that you just file some of the edge off of the sear. is that true? i love the gun but hate the 8-9lbs pull!!!

I'd just take it to a good gunsmith before I started messin with the trigger. If you do go filing at it, make sure you keep the same angles on everything or it'll be screwed up.

Was it a machine gun that you were trying to make it into? If not, don't just file on trigger parts!

The easiest way is to buy drop in trigger parts to replace the rather crude and lawyer safe Ruger parts. In my book the best is the Volquartsen parts. The Power Custom parts are suppose to be good. There are others available too (see Brownells catalog). All change the geometry of the sear/trigger to get a lighter, crisper action to the trigger pull and include springs that reduce the force require to set the gun off. Follow the instructions and you will get an excellent trigger. Don't follow the directions and the gun may become very unsafe. Triggers are nothing to fool around with. The drop in kits if done correctly give you a lighter, crisper pull that is still safe.
