I commited to a new Deer lease yesterday. I hope it's a good one. Now I get to build a new stand and upgrade my feeder.

Good luck to you. What kind of stand do you use?

I have designed a new stand this time. I am going to weld up a square tube frame 4' x 6' x 6'. I am looking for a lightweight, but tough material for the skin. I am trying to stay away from plywood.

Thanks, I think I finally found a lease I can be happy with. No livestock, lots of land, and by the looks lots of game.

"Strawn"??
Ok,now you did it.You made go look at the map. Why didn't ya just say,"About half way between Abilene and Fort Worth"? Just kiddin'. I've never hunted up that way,but I hear that it's some good territory. Just out of curiosity, what are leases bringin' up there? Around here,in the Hill Country,it's become a rich mans sport again and they've all but priced out all us poor boys. And don't even think about South Texas unless you've got $5k or more to spend. BW |

We used a painter's drop cloth.......then we painted it and it was virtually waterproof. It's tough and lightweight.

Leases up this way are briniging between 1K and 1.5K/gun depending on what the place has to offer. Taking this lease shortens my drive from 4 hours to 2 hours.
I have been trying to get on a friend's lease in San Saba for a couple of years but its one of those deals where someone has to die before there is an opening. My friend has been on it for 16 years. |

We use parachute material for the skins on our stands.
