Colt Army Special, .41 Long Colt, SN 3042xx. I believe this one belonged to my Grand-dad, then my Dad and now me. I haven't shot this one yet as my supply of ammo is pretty low and the stuff is fairly hard to come by. Anyway, anyone have an approximate value for this one? Thanks, you all have been a big help.

Well, scw, looks like you've got a real nice revolver there. I've got the same gun in .32-20.
First off......you've got an oldy but a goody. Yours was made in 1908......the first year of production for the Army Special which was made frrom 1908 until 1927. The Army Special serial #s were a continuation from the Officers Model. Secondly, if the bore is good, yours appears to be in Very Good condition....probably about 80%. Blue Book value: 90% - $400 80% - $325 70% - $295 Just a personal note.......my Army Special isn't in as good a condition as yours, but it belonged to my dad, and I wouldn't sell it at any price. I hope you'll keep yours as a family heirloom. |

Thank you, Xracer, for the information. And no, I have no intention of selling any of these heirlooms. It's just that I was left quite a few firearms by my Dad and, as time permits, I'm going to try to post them on this forum simply to get an idea of the value (and maybe to show them off just a little). I do appreciate you taking the time to research them and post replies.

Ask away......that's what we're here for.
![]() BTW, since you plan to keep these guns, I'd suggest you insure them against theft or fire. Rule of thumb: insurance value should be 125% to 150% of the book value. |

Thanks, Xracer. I fully intend to get them insured.
Btw, how do you get the smiley face to show up in your post? |

I have one of them Ser 14794X
This is Nickel. Missing the extractor/ratchet and needs the crane strightened. If I ever find the extractor/ratchet I'll get the rest fixed. Only got $50 in so it makes a nice wall hanger as is. ![]()
