Default SA 1911 info needed

I own a SA 1911A1 which I know little about. I bought it from a guy for $450 because he needed the money. He said it had trigger work done, it's got an upgrade hammer and grips. It's also got a stainless barrell bushing or guide on the end. Is it a 'Loaded' or Mil Spec or what?

I would say "semi-loaded" as it doesn't have adjustable sights, flared magazine well, checkered grip front/back or some of the other bells-and-whistles everyone thinks they need nowadays.

Nice lookin' piece though!

Welcome to TFF. The pistol is actually a Mil-spec SA 1911 A-1. Good pistol and a very good base for custom work. Feed it well and often.

I have owned alot of these pistols and with a little tweeking, they are hard to beat.

i believe the alpha prefix indicates that it is a fairly new gun.....might want to consider smudging the serial number.....its a nice gun...agree sort of semi-loaded

As S45 says, Mil-Spec without the plastic stocks. By the way, those stock screws are wrong for that style stock and look terrible too. Replace them and then use the correct sized screw driver.

I think he meant smudge the picture so the serial number would not be readable online.

The serial number indicates it is a plain ole GI Mil-Spec, which is a great little basic pistol. It is obvious the hammer is new. As Shooter said, with a little tweeking, it is terrific. SoMo gave me one for a wedding present and it is superb after a few upgraded tweaks.

Here are a couple of Springfield Armory mil-spec 1911's with a little custom work.
