St. Etienne M1873 - The Firearms Forum

Hello all,

My dad has an 1873 St. Etienne french DA revolver originally chambered in the old 11mm black powder cartridge. At some point in its history it was sleeved for .22LR and has S.1882 deeply hand stamped on the barrel (ejector side of the octagon half) in plain numbers, rather than the lighter fancy stamping (engraving?) of the 1873 on top. I've read that the 1892's in 8mm were professionally converted for training purposes. I'm wondering if some of the 1873's were converted as well, and how rare an exception this may be.
