Default Anyone want extra candy??

Our mayor, in his infinite wisdom , declared Wednesday that our town would celebrate Halloween on Saturday this year. Lots of folks were upset, some because of the move, but most because it came just two days ahead of time and they already had other plans: parties and homecoming dances had already been scheduled, etc, and lots of folks were going to Baton Rouge for the LSU game.

So now the mayor says folks can "do as they please. Those who want to celebrate it on Saturday can do that and those who want to celebrate on Monday can do that." What that means is that we will be getting trick-or-treaters BOTH nights, and my guess is that there will be a lot of repeat visits, especially from the older kids who really shouldn't be trick-or-treating anyway because they're too old.

This will be the first year I have our dog here. He's a 90lb. black Lab we named TaTanka(from "Dances with Wolves", it means "buffalo"). He's as sweet as can be but very protective. He'll go nuts if we have strangers at the door. I think I'm just gonna spread candy out on the driveway and keep him locked in the utility room.

When I used to live in places where trick-or-treaters would knock on my door at Halloween, I would simply turn out the lights and not answer the door. I don't like much kids anyway, especially ones that come begging for freebies.

You could try answering the door with a loaded shotgun pointed at them. That would surely prevent repeat visitors!

Mayor's better idea? Not this time.....

We have not had a trick-or-treater here since my son & friends got to old to do it.
Or maybe it was the dog that was chained up outside, in the driveway.
Whichever.........

Reminds me of an incident that happened near my home years ago . A Japanese exchange student was with some friends on Halloween night . They were on their way to a party and went to the wrong house . He knocked on the door and when the woman answered , he walked in . She was frightened by the kids and let out a scream . Her husband stepped into the room and shot the boy in the chest with a .44 mag . The man was not convicted of anything but he ended up losing everything he had . A family lost their son .
Just a bad situation all around . It gave the anti gun people a lot of ammo to use against us as well .

Last year we tried turning off all the lights in the house, but we still had stinkin kids comin to the door. Couldn't keep them away. I'll be glad when I get to move to the country.
