Fixler Gravity Alarm
Hello all, I'm new to this forum, in search of help.
I recently acquired a most interesting mechanical device that I believe was meant to fire a blank on caliber I'm unsure of.
It is IDed on the hammer lack of better The Fixler Gravity Alarm. I've not been able to find much on the piece thru countless searches on the web. I've found a newer version of it that was sold at an auction that dates it to the first decade of the 1900's. Please review the attached picture and pass on any information you might have. The diameter of the hole you'd insert a cartridge into it right at 21/64". The bottom of the device could be easily removed with two screws, one could then insert a cartridge with shot to cause a bit more than the sound alarm it was designed for. You simply lift the hammer up just pass ninety degrees and the trip lever holds it their. One would run a trip wire or string to a door and upon trip or door opening the hammer would fly down and fire the cartridge. To simple for me! I hope you all enjoy and look forward to my education from all of you.
