Hi guys,
I'm relatively new to the AR 15. I have an Essential Arms J-15 with a 4-position stock. I inherited it from my dad and I'm fairly certain he told me it was a pre-ban model. Also, I know EA only makes lowers and stocks. 1. How do I tell if it is a pre-ban lower receiver? 2. Are Essential Arms lower receivers considered to be good quality? 3. How do I tell who made the other parts on the gun? 4. My dad had about 1000 rounds of what I assume is relatively cheap ammo. This gun has a tendency to jam the bullet down into the casing by jamming it between two of the fingers of the forcing cone (not sure if that is actual name of the part). Also, a couple cases got jammed in the chamber and wouldn't extract. Would this be the fault of the ammo, the upper, or the magazine (happened with more than 1 magazine). Thanks for any info!
