Polish, who wants to carry around a crow bar or hydrolic jack just to get enough leverage on the trigger to make the revolver go "bang?"
Besides, the M95 makes you look like an agent for the NKVD. ![]()

I like the Taurus Tracker Titanium in 41 Mag (5 shot) or 357 (7 shot) for CCW. They have a 4" bbl, K-frame size, and weigh about 24 oz. Taurus also makes fixed sight versions of these with 2" bbl in 45 Colt and 41 Mag, which would be great.

I've heard of the S&W revolver in .45ACP, but I didn't know it was so small, I thought it would be larger. In that case, I'll gladly trade a .357 magnum because the .45 has much less chance of over-penetration and the .45 causes more damage.

Traded an old shotgun for this one a while back. Great gun. While it is "small" its not "tiny." That's still an N frame with a short BBL. Now, the custom shop makes one even smaller. They trim the cylinder back to 45ACP case length and shove the BBL back in the frame - it looks like that gun with essentially no BBL. The Sc frame and Ti cylinder on mine make it a real nice carry piece. I use a high ride belt scabbard by Ken Null to carry this and it works well.

Another revolver choice in .45 ACP might be the Taurus 455.

I gotta agree with SS on this one .I have 2" mod 10 that a real nice CCW gun and can take the +P ammo. pretty dang accurate for 2" also. cradled in a Bianichi silent partner sholder rig or a pancake on the hip ya never know it's there. Good proven model of choice. Was my first carry gun yrs. back. Now days most of it's use is a back up field gun for Deer hunting. If i need a shot to finish off game .(at $25.00 a box rifle ammo ) the ole Model 10 will do it with my cheap reloads. --JMJ--

Most of the year, when the weather is warm to hot, It's a Taurus 85 or Ruger SP101. When the cold weather is in it's a 9mm.

I personally like the Heritage Rough Rider in .32 H&R Mag. 3.5 inch barrel with bird's head grip.

I agree with you and also carry a Smith 637 sometimes on a belt hip serpa or bianchi accumold but usually in my front pocket. I think another thing to consider though is sometimes instead of a small framed J frame a full size revolver that you can quickly get your hands on in great moments of stress might have a great advantage over a J frame. Scandium and Titanium though probably not the funniest thing to shoot more than a minimum amount of rounds in at the range has opened the door for full size revolvers that carry well and don't wear on you all day carrying due to it's light weight and you dont give up capacity. Ive considered one of those full size 7shot Smith 357magnums because of this technology. A full size gun that you can grab and use my give you a slight edge over having to fumble with a smaller framed gun when it counts. I agree though, as long as you train with it it should work out for you when it matters the most.

My choice would be a snub-nose .357/.38 from S&W, Taurus or Ruger.

I bought a tiny Smith, at a gun show, J-frame, Air-lite Ti, 3", black ramp, front sight, in .38 spl, +P+, rated, weighs 10 1/2 oz, empty; somebody's "Dream gun", but did not work, for them.
Love it!

I love the airweights...Slip in your pocket and go....Kick like a mule but who cares, most of the time one or two shots will do the job....And from hunting experience (I know it has nothing to do with this but.....) you aren't going to notice kick when it comes time to use it....If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for it Stash?

A little Model 85 is hard to beat, I say.

You make a good point, Patrol. I solved that problem by having two 637s. One has Pachmayr Compact grips on it and I carry it in a Kramer MSP. That grip makes the revolver easy to grasp and control, but still retains the light weight and relative ease of concealment. When I need something even less conspicuous, I carry the other 637 with a set of Mike's boot grips in a IWB holster.

In the winter or if staying away overnight I pack a S&W M1917 with the barrel cut down to 3". Love the .45 ACP in a revolver (and auto too).
I would like to try the Taurus .45ACP 5-shot. |

I have one, USMC, the Taurus 455 with a 2" barrel. Not a bad handgun, though a bit bulky and somewhat difficult to conceal in my opinion if one is carrying it CCW. Mine has a ported barrel which really helps with the recoil and target reacquisition. It's a great handgun for backpacking though, or anywhere concealment is not an issue.

Got a S&W 649 "bodyguard" with a shrouded hammer. Does sa & da, both, but the hammer doesn't get boogered up on clothing. A bit on the heavy side in stainless, but at .357 magnum, manages the recoil well. Not much bigger than my Kahr PM9, which is actually not as flexible in carrying modes.

I just scored a NIB SW 432PD H&R .32 mag. for the wife's Christmas stocking. This is a 6 shot J frame that is DAO that weighs in at 13.5 oz. She tried my Kel Tec P32 several times at the range but she wanted a revolver. She is recoil sensitive and the .38 was too much for her wrist.
This is a sweet little wheel gun. I may get one to be a BUG to my Glock27. As far as snubby carry I always favor the J frame Smith's ![]() Last edited by FLA2760; 11-20-2007 at 06:53 PM.. |
