I was just wondering what everyone carries in their CCW. I'm sure this has been asked before but it can't hurt to bring back up. At any rate I just purchased a S&W 5906 9mm a few weeks back and started carrying that, I know not very concealed. At any rate I use the 15 round clip. I carry a shotshell in the chamber followed by 10 135 grain Hydrashok ending with 5 135 grain FMJs. Go ahead and make fun of the shotshell everyone does but I figure if I hit someone with the shotshell and they would rather run off instead of making me put a couple of hydras center mass it saves me the trouble of killing someone. But anyway what do you guys load up?

Kahr I'm not knocking the shot shell, but does it fuction OK? I have not had 100% results with the shot shell. You might think about carrying a nonlethel weapon, such as Freeze+P or the such. Just food for thought. Don't knock the 5906. If you dress accordingly you can hide it as well as anything else. It has a VERY fast trigger. I carry 115 corbons in my 9mm's. If I can get Hydrashoks in the 124 +P+ my Glock 19's really like them. IN my 357's I usually use federal 158 sp around my place. If it self defence It's 125 Remingtons.

[QUOTE] I've probably only cycled about 20 or so shotshell through and have not had any problems, and it's no problem during winter to carry the 5906, summer time will probably be more difficult, that's what the Kahr MK9 is for. But you're right about the fast trigger it is such a guilty pleasure of mine dump a full clip as fast as possible from it.

Kahr, all:
If that shot shell on top will cycle the action reliably, which I doubt, you will be stunned by the performance of it, "up close and personal". It hits as hard as a solid bullet of the same weight, and becomes a 'surgeon's nightmare', for the recipient. The local Law are issued Speer shot shells for animal control, putting down injured animals, and the like, here, and they speak highly of the performance of the round. They won't cycle my compact Colt auto, but are the round of choice, first shot, in my revolvers. The rest of the story is Gold Dot. Accurate enough, with excellent terminal performance.

I have ten 7.62X39 rounds in my (stripper) clip(s), for my SKS.
I have five Speer Gold Dot 158gr .357MAG screamers in the cylinder of my Taurus M605. I have five Federal 110gr .38spl lead pills in my Taurus M85SSUL. Currently, I have no MAGAZINES loaded for any of my autoloaders, but if I did, they would be 230gr Federal Hydroshoks, .45acp. ![]()

I don't carry a handgun because CCW is hard to get in Maryland, but I do keep 3 shotguns for home defense
Savage double .410: Remington #8 Charles Daly semiauto 20-gauge: Winchester #8 Winchester Model 37 single 12-gauge: Winchester slug The .410 is my most-accessible and first choice in home defense. It's quick to load in a hurry and unload on an intruder, I don't typically keep the Charles Daly loaded but if I had the time to load it I would take it over my .410 just because of shell capacity. I also keep the Winchester with a slug in it, I live in a rural area so if the intruder wasn't dropped in 2 .410 shells then he may escape, but the land around my house is open field for 50 yards in all directions so a 12-gauge slug could get my point across quite nicely. |

Right now, I'm still carrying my FEG PA-63 9mm Makarov with Cor Bon 95gr JHP rounds(velocity 1050 fps). It's easy to conceal under a tee shirt inside my trouser's waist band
Once I start wearing a jacket which will be very soon, I'll begin carrying my Taurus PT-145 45acp with Triton Quik-Shok 45acp+p 165gr QSHP rounds (velocity 1250fps / 572 ft-lbs). I'll carry this inside my waist band also but the slight bulge won't be noticable. John

In my 45acp pistols, the magazines all hold 230 gr. Federal HydraShoks. 357mag. revolvers are loaded with 147 gr. Winchester Silvertips. My 41mag revolvers are loaded with either 215 gr or 240 gr. Winchesters.

I use mainly Gold Dot 124 grain HP's in my S&W 910. But, if I cant find those I will use Remington 124 grain Golden Sabre HP's as a second choice.
