Are we at WAR? - The Firearms Forum

Everywhere I look today all news channels CNN/ABC/WCCO etc.etc. they post we are at war! I thought congress gave Bush the power to declare war but I am now in the middle of a heated arguement at work and there is one person saying we are not at war and have not been declared at war since 1941. Then on the other hand there are like 20 people saying we are at war! Now as the appointed person to investigate this I figured what way is easier then to ask the people on here, since every other question has given me links to the correct paths and this way I can print it off and show if the majority is correct or if this one guy standing alone is correct.
Please any help will help.

Sorry MnHunter, but the person standing alone is correct!

Only the Senate can formally declare war on other nations as per the constitution. So far, the last time the Senate declared formal war was on 12/7/41 and signed by FDR on 12/8/41!

Korea was a UN conflict and Vietnam was a police action started by the Gulf of Tonkin resolution in 1964. Neither time did the Senate declare them wars.

yes we are at war, BUT THE GUTLESS WONDERS IN CONGRESS WILL NEVER TAKE A VOTE , because it would publicly put them on record, and of course the dems , their lib constits would have a huge freak out session. so they will say it and repeat it, the dem s in the Senate wont do this however, actually say we are at war, they will take no position, because if they did , vocally and publically, someone may start to draft a resolution, and make em vote. Also if they were to do this, they would literally give the prez a blank check to do what he wants, and they wan to be able to dog him out in the media without the media syaing, but wait Billary, you voted for war, and new all that it menat to vote for it. so they will not do it.
