Post Re: What is the best pocket pistol at any price?

I have heard many good things about the Sig P238, there was a write up about it in my last guns and ammo magazine and they liked it a lot too. They are about $500

Agree, but just because you've got the cash don't mean you've got to throw it away. The increment of difference in quality and reliability between the Kahr PM9 and the Rohrbaugh is so slight that it's not worth the difference in cash. The PM9 is the best value pocket pistol, in my opinion.

My preferences and I researched for a couple of years. All 16 ounces or lighter loaded.

M&P 340 with Crimson Trace 405 grips in a Mika Roundcut pocket holster.

Reload, Bianchi Speedstrip in a 2/2 split.

Seecamp LWS 380

Kahr PM 9

Seecamp compared with a J Frame

Since my original post [#2] in this thread, I now have a Ruger LCP and LCR. They both carry well. They are both fine guns for pocket carry.
I still like carrying my old stand by's, NAA 22Mag Revolver and/or NAA 22LR Revolver and/or Bauer 25 Automatic.
The Kahr CW9 and MK9 are a little too heavy, but I do like them.

Cool Re: What is the best pocket pistol at any price?

One thing to consider when choosing a pocket gun. They will break more often than a larger gun. If I remember correctly the mainspring on the Rohrbourgh, Seacamp, LCP and Keltec are supposed to be replaced after 200-300 rounds.

I'm not saying these guns are not well made. They are just small and take a beating when fired. So do your hands. Most are not pleasant to practice with.
If you do a lot of practice be very sure to keep it clean and maintained. I broken mainspring in a self-defense situation would not be good.

A compact 1911 doesn't carry well in a pocket, but is easily concealed in a IWB holster.

Neither Ruger or Keltec recommends replacing recoil springs.

I have an old Kel Tec P40 that has never failed me. I take this gun 90% of the time and I do trust my life to it.

How about the Walther PPK? or the Walther PP? The
Walther PP is about the best shooting small pistol I
have ever shot. You could do head shots all day long
at 25 yards, with one hand.

Do that in a "duty to retreat" state, and you're going to jail for LIFE.

same features yes in a lot of cases but performance isn't that close. the 9mm does so much better than the 380 and the 9mm loses less energy from a shorter barrel than most other calibers. look it up

I think my next purchase is going to be the new Ruger LC9.

Looks like the LCP's big brother, it should be sweet!!!

There are so many, and everyone has different tastes.
Best advice, dress the way you do the most, go to the candy store,
and try a bunch of them on for size and feel.
Obviously slacks are different than wranglers, revolvers are generally fatter than
a Ruger LCP, which BTW, is very smooth and sleek going in and coming out
of the pocket, especially if you wear tighter style pants.
What type of 'knock down' do you want.....so consider the caliber, that will
play a role in deciding.
The 'best' one has to be, IMO, a choice from your candy case, so whichever
wardrobe you choose for an outing, you will have the right pocket protector to match.
One of my faves is the Taurus chambered for .410/.45, a bit on the large side,
but very effective, bobbed hammer of course.
