Hijinx39,
Don't worry about time - I'm hoping we both have lots of it left. If you wish - you can e-mail your pics to me as attachments and I'll post them for you. The only charge is that I get to keep your pics in my data files???
e-mail: bobell01@aol.com that's: 'ZERO' one NOT: 'OH' one

Jamesjo -
Just about anything is "smarter than you" - door knobs, wheel barrows, ladies' muffs, etc.

Thanks for your response and I think I will just email the photo's to you and let you do all of the hard work. I will get some good ones for your collection. It is like giving someone pictures of your kids. I will send them this week for sure. I have a great 22 rig with bullet loops and tie down for my "silver" sportsman. Looks downtown Tombstone. I'll send that also just for drill.

Jamesjo:
If I was smart I'd be rich instead of so dang good looking (isn't that what they say). Too soon we get old, too late we get smart is what my Daddy used to say. To show you how smart I am, I got partial hearing in my left ear because I failed to use proper sound baffles when it counted. Lots of guys come out of the military with that problem but they have an excuse. Mine was just pure carelessness. It's like having a permanent kazoo stuck in my ear. Now that I have made my confession will someone give me absolution? I know...let me stay on the thread.

You're absolved or is it dissolved? J/K, is a lot of us like that. My hearing is bad in both ears because I was never told about ear plugs when I was young.

I just purchased a Sportsman 999 and wanted to confirm its age or get my understanding corrected I think from past posts it is a third generation 1973 to 1986 the number on it is AXO94346, Thanks for your help.

You are correct and it is of 1981 vintage. Got pics?

Thanks for the pics. Very, very nice example of a SPORTSMAN from the '80s. Have you or do you plan to shoot it?

Well I was planning on it but haven't had the opportunity yet. Please excuse my apparent ignorance but your question seems a little odd, are you thinking of it as a collector item? If it has that kind of value I had no idea.

KDPalmer,
Standard answer for many is that if it's H&R, it's worth about $ 100.
I'll do you a favor, and offer you twice that, let me know.........

Jamesjo Thanks Jim but I've had a H&R 929 for 4,5,or 6 years and it;s not bad for a $100 gun But I gave a bit more for this 999 and was planning on using it, I just didn't quite know what to make of part of Jim Hauf's comment. Right now one of my kids has the 929 so I bought the 999 as a replacement. I bought the 999 over getting a "Freedom" .22. I under stand that it is a "Cheap" gun. I'm not a gun buff so if someone has some insight on something I'll listen and look. Thanks Karl
