Default Any Indians here?

My wife just sent her paperwork off to Oklahoma again(they're very picky about the birth certificate), to apply for membership in the Cherokee Nation. She's not full blooded, but enough to qualify. Her dad had joined a few years ago.
For her, it's mostly a matter of pride in her heritage, and a link to her ancestors.
If it goes through, we're gonna see about our kids too.
Now if I could just find something like that for a good Irishman, oh yeah, I remember, it's called a bar!

It's diffucult task trying get all the docs.

My fraternal grandmother was full blooded Potawatomi.
The problem I have had is that she was adopted by a white family.
I have her birth certificate however it shows her adopted parents.
That way it's was recorded so there is nothing I can do or submit to the band.
Anyone I could get affidavits from are long gone.

Good luck in your endeavor.

2 men + mom.
1 man gave me life.
1 man gave me a name.
Man that gave life = mostly Indian, never met him.
Man that gave me name = not Indian, did meet him.

Enough Indian in me to qualify, IF I could prove it.

Never could grow a beard for some reason. Hmmmm

One eighth. Eastern Woodland. My ancestors, Abenaki from the St. Francis area of Canada.
I spend a great deal of my time during the spring, summer and fall reliving my favorite period in history and celebrating my heritage by living as my ancestors did during the mid 1700s.

Not any Indian blood in me as far as I know, but if you go back far enough . . . . we're ALL related. And (looking around) that can be a pretty scary thing!

I was down in Durant OK a few weeks ago next to the 'New" Cherokee Casino, and they had a Billboard up showing the Cherokee Nation "Chief" and "Assistant Chief welcoming us. (I didn't know they HAD "Assistant" Chiefs, but there he WAS big as life! ) (Is that an elected position, or do you still have to earn it by counting coup? Just wondering....)

But we all commented how it REALLY looked strange that the Head Chief of the whole tribe was blonde and blue eyed, heck he COULD have been Polish for all we know!

Crow....
My great grandmother on my dads side was a full blooded crow. I guess she had a thing for white guys?

Most white people in this country do have some indian ancestory in their lineage.
In fact now that i think about it my dads aunt supposedly had traced the family tree back to Pocahontas. I don't know weither she was goofy or if she really did have the proof. But by now i wonder how many people actually are decendants of her? Alot i would assume.

My greatgrandmother was 1/2 Missourri Blackfoot. What ever I have in me is by the trickle-down method. My dad was full blood Chzech. First gen American which make me 2d Generation American on my pop's side. My mom's side been here forever it seems.

Very diluted but I have Apache in my blood line (Great Great Grandmother). My Finnish and Lituanian sides come out more.

My wife has Cherokee and Iroquois.

I spoke to a couple of young ladys "19yrs and 20yrs old" a couple of years back that were from a reservation....i forget what state it was in, but they were full blooded Blackfoot. I believe they were the most beautiful girls i have ever seen. And I've seen some really good looking girls in my time too, but they were at the top of the list....
However, their father was the uglyest beast i have ever seen in my life...but well mannered. Genetics are strange like that. Go figure.

PS

I am not bothered by being a small part indian. I believe my political beliefs are due in part to the indian decendancy... My bad attitude however comes from the Irish part of me. Thats the part i hate to admit to!!!! Oh well, at least I'm not French.....
