Default For the Purist

Well most fans of the 1911 are purists in my estimation and feel as though plastic should be left to the domain of credit cards and beach toys, not firearms. However, is this distaste for the material or specifically the glock and its clones?

Therefore, I was wondering whether you would by a 1911, with a polymer frame? Is that still a 1911 in your estimation or is that blasphemy?

I'm a gentle person, and Blasphemy, a strong word!
Also I am old, and, so less adaptive of changes in style, and direction.
I guess a gun should look and feel like a gun, IMHO.
I've shot the 1911 for over 40 years, and it feels like a gun, and looks like one, since I know few others.
The K-frame Smith, likewise, fits the bill. I own a dozen or more, J-frames, fine revolvers, but not as natural as the K.
I use plastic articles to wash the car, clean the toilet, and entertain the dogs, not, for defense, or offensive, purpose, as their reliability scares me!
It took 'til 1968 for me to trust an alloy framed Colt, a .45 Commander! Turned out to be a darned fine pistol; I still own and shoot it!
Purist? I really can't say, with conclusion. Pragmatist? Definitely!!!

tupperware is for glocks, h&k's, and rugers, not 1911's.

Wilson is producing a polymer framed 1911 chambered in 45acp and soon to be 9mm. They claim it will shoot 1.5" at 25 yrds. As an owner of 1911s and Glocks, I say its time has come.

SA makes a polymer frame LW 45. I owned one until it was stolen last year. I loved it. Accurate as heck too.
