Signers of the declaration of Independence vs. todays Congress
I got this from one of those little travel papers "Oak-Marsh Press" down in St. Simons Island Ga.
Fifty six men signed the Declaration of Independence. They risked everything they had including their lives by signing. If the British had won they would have been hung or worse.
9 of them fought and died in the Revolutionary War.
5 more were captured by the Brits and tortured and executed.
2 had sons killed fighting in the war.
12 had their homes destroyed.
One of the signers wifes died while being held by the British.
Of the 42 signers who survived the war 15 died in poverty having had their property destroyed in the war.
Compare their sacrafices to todays congress:
Sorry, I couldn't come up with any thing.
