The forearm have turned much darker than the stock from use. Is there a way to restore/refinish the wood so the stock and the forearm have the same colorations and finish? I would appreciate any comments. It is flared French Walnut wood. (Factory checkered) Charlie D Thanks a lot. Use high-quality stock rubbing compounds like those from Brownell's. Otherwise, depending on the age of the shotgun, Winchester used some very specific stains on the higher-grade stocks. The finish on the Y-series guns differs from the pre-64 guns, which also differs from the pre-war guns. The wood is outstanding -- I would like to restore it if it is possible. My suggestion is to start with Triple-F then proceed into Five-F rubbing compounds. That may well solve the problem.
