Ah, Crusty -

Couldn't wait to tell ya!

One of the regulars was at the gunrange this morning and had a Llama .45 auto (1911Al clone, execpt for the extractor) and his S&W 645 to shoot up a passel of .45 ACP ammo.

Guess What????????????

The Spanish Pot Metal just kept firing and firing, while the Smith just kept jamming and jamming!!

When I commented on it, he said the Llama was roughly machined inside, had a long gritty and heavy trigger pull - but, would digest just about anything he fed it - whereas, the S&W had to be pampered and still wouldn't perform to the level of the Pot Metal!!!

Ah, reports like that give me a warm fuzzy feeling -

either that or my Depends are leaking again.

I have heard similar reports - the finer tooled and machined pistols tend towards being more finicky on the ammo they will accept, whereas the rougher machined pieces have wider tolerances and will chug through all types of ammo.
