Welcome to TFF, Brian.

Winchester M1's do bring a higher premium (if all correct) however,
WWII era M1's i.e. Sprinfield that have serial #'s under the 2-million
mark, will bring a higher pemium as well. This is just a brief outline,
as many other factors come into play also, such as all parts correct,
condition, etc. There are several members here that can help you
with more detailed / specific info. Check back often and enjoy the
forums.

personaly i prefer Winchester over Springfield...

but a nice, correct International Harvester may bring a premium and command a bit more collector interest...

having a "papered" gun would be desirable...

a gun with DCM or CMP provanance...

or the elusive "vet bring back" paperwork...

the GCA (Garand Collectors Assoc.) is the place to inquire...

and MTC at Mauser Central is probably the most knowedgable Garand Guru i know after McCLAIN, DUFF, and CANFIELD...

best regards, mike.

Hi Brian.....welcome to TFF.

Generally speaking, as Admin says, value lies in condition, correctness (all parts matching), manufacturer, and date of manufacture.

Highest prices go to pre-WWII Springfields, then WWII Winchesters, and then WWII Springfields.

International Harvesters and Harrington & Richardsons bring a bit less as they were of post-WWII (Korean war) manufacture.
